Toddler missing in River Soar

Local gossip has it the toddler fell from The Packhorse Bridge, which if you know the area runs over the river & what's known as backwaters, which are between the canal & the river.
The whole area including surrounding fields are currently flooded, & resemble one huge lake, so for the most part it's very difficult to tell which area is just flooded fields & which is the river/backwaters.

He doesn't.

It is interesting how some people's default reaction is sympathy and others is to blame. I think its a way of trying to feel better about yourself...but putting other people down won't boost you up. You'll still be in the same place you were.

How do you know that?
The known facts and common sense..

It is sad that a child has been lost but by any reasonable measure a two year old being exposed to a flooded river at a time when flood alarms are ringing on and off all day suggests gross negligence

There’s no need for that is there mate 🤨
Unless you’re talking from experience.
Why not?

Its very sad but there is no fucking way I would ever ever ever think that taking a two year anywhere near a flood area was a great family day out - and if I did I would have the child so very very close to me there would not be a chance of a disaster.

The flood alarm has just gone off here again - as it has been doing on and off for days

Because you don’t know the exact circumstances so you’re just guessing what happened, even worse you’re judging the people involved or were you a witness to the situation

I dont need to be a witness. Its been pissing it down for weeks. The river (according to witnesses) was and remains a 'torrent'. The whole area is under flood.

Any parent that places their child (and themselves) in a high risk situation and allows their child to fall in has failed on many levels - they will have to reflect on that for the rest of their lives. Your interest in this tragedy will fade and be gone by the weekend

I just think your comment was out of order pal and you disagree so let’s leave it there.

I drove through Middleton Street this afternoon and the water levels were higher than I expected.
In fact the road itself was only passable by driving in the middle of the road.
There was a police van parked up near the bridge and a policeman standing by it.
I had know idea that that's where the child had gone missing. It was only when I saw the police helicopter circling for a length of time that I clicked.
Tragic really.

Bit cynical...
Maybe so - doesn't make it untrue though
God knows how far away the poor kid has been carried down the river by now
Maybe no distance at all. Nicola Bulley was found in an area not far from where she fell in (an area that the 'Specialist Police Team' had 'thoroughly searched' already). This same team is on this job too now btw.

The sensible option now is to simply wait, unpleasant though it maybe. The body will hopefully turn up but hosing thousands of pounds on a pointless search is simply a waste of money.

The bloke who owns the private search team, claims online that he found Nicola Bulley within 6 minutes of searching - but the police ignored him. You can find his claims online...
