Tielemans has made few friends at Vile

He was in a picture with another Villa player showing how the sweat marks the front of the new Villa shirts, it must have been taken after he sprinted to the players canteen to be first in the queue for lunch!

Respect to the guy from me.........Huge goal in the history of leicester City FC.

I love that print. Remember it well. In the Kop for the replay where the Birch scored the equaliser in ET. Sadly the bastard Radford did us yet again in the replay a few days later. Went to all 3 matches although I only did 65 mins in the Clock end due to being chased by the Millwall mob

That is the original painted by Paul Town. Cost a few bob but worth it.
I was at the game.

Oh wow. I bought a print for my mate. We were there together as we were at Wembley in 2021. Both Southampton and Chelsea!! I need the Birch to sign it

we let his contract run out
Whilst a big admirer of him it was he who let his contract run out. If he wasn't prepared to sign an extension that was allegedly placed in front of him on multiple occasions in the last 2 years what can you do. Still, for those who want to see footballers honour contracts rather than leave before they expire what more could you ask for? Did us no favours though and ultimately did him no favours either judging by the drop off in performance (again also impacting us) & the consequent impression that he ended up with a move that was not necessarily what he was looking for regardless of the charms of Charnwood.

I forgive the man almost everything for scoring 'that' goal - winning the FA Cup was undeniably every City fan's wish before they shuffled off this mortal coil (no sane man or woman thought we'd ever achieve The Impossible Dream of winning Division 1 (as was) or the Premier League - funny old game Brian).

The 'overweight waddler' trope is plain wrong in my opinion. I saw him close up and personal running around the village a few times and he always looked pretty ripped to me. He's a talented player but isn't blessed with lightning speed off the mark - that and his lack of consistency meant no BCC came in for him.

He's still enjoying the undeniable charms of Charnwood - he's still living in the same house here in the Republic.

This is not correct as I for one never gave up on winning the league however small that hope might have been & as much as I loved the FA Cup win it had ceased to be the be all & end all for me pretty much from the moment Man Utd were excused participation and the constant & continuing wilful diminishing of it ever since.

I agree though I don't think it was just his speed off the mark but I think at his best he covered the ground a lot better & quicker than people realised however inelegantly. That said, like the squad as a whole last season he looked way off the pace & unfit and it looked way more noticeable with him (see "inelegantly")

he's still living in the same house here in the Republic.
I know but I refuse to acknowledge that place.

He did say sane

One problem he had was the low expectations set by his manager. He literally could play crap and be guaranteed selection the following game. That did no good to anyone - him, his teammates, TCR or the club
I think the challenge is that if he ain't playing every game you aren't going to get the best out of him which, when form does drop off, is quite the conundrum.

yeah, he/we, i'm sure most of us have been in a position where we want a pay raise and it isn't forthcoming. he wanted x we offered him y. i didn't think ill of him for wanting more money, i did think ill of him for all the lazy performances he put in and that had he tried harder he might've helped to keep us in the PL (even that, like the drop to L1, might be blessing in disguise, only time will tell), but i've let it go.

I am not sure it was about money directly - i.e. regardless of what we offered [which I reckon would have been getting close to what he accepted at Villa] I think it was failure to qualify for the CL at the end of the 2020/21 season that pretty much sealed it (and, yes, there is an indirect money element as CL probably equalled more bonus... fucking hell, even Europa Conference football got them decent bonuses). As implied by his recent interview re: Belgium he sees himself as a top player who should be playing on the biggest stages. I think failure to qualify for the 2nd year on the trot convinced him that he could never do it with us so he was always set on leaving which, as I say, did us no favours both financially (hell, if he had backed his talent he could have signed and moved for a fee) or in terms of his performance.

Tielemans
I’d be more inclined to feel the man’s
Pain, at all the stick he gets
If he had put in more of a shift.
Yes, his Cup winning goal was God’s gift
To all who’d suffered through that long FA Cup drought,
And I for one, don’t doubt
Youri still looks ripped in Charnwood,
Though even a barn would,
Alongside some.
Come.
Let’s not bury the man
Let’s not make him carry the can
For what happened last season
Because if you still don’t know the real reason.
Go check your VCR
For TCR
