This season

I honestly didn't know what to expect. Having been relegated, new manager, lost a lot of players, had to bring in a few, some of which were unknown, I was thinking play-offs would be good. There were plenty of well established championship teams and Leeds and Southampton looked a lot more settled than us.

The one thing I have got from this season is that we aren't as good as some have made us out to be. On our day, we are a decent side, but we have a lot of flaws. I have accepted this and am very pleased at where we are. We know that parachute payments haven't helped us, we haven't bought the league, we are a team in a major transition who will hopefully go up.

It has annoyed me how many of our own fans are slating the team. Especially as we are top of the league. Some are starting to sound like a bunch of entitled pricks. The championship is relentless. Not just the amount of games, it's more physical, but most of all, it requires a certain mental attitude.

Our fans criticism has not just been at the players, it has been at Enzo. This man has come into a proper mess. I think that has been understated. He has a philosophy of how he wants to play and has installed it. Yes, you can be critical at times, that it is slow and stubborn, but we are top of the league!!! What he has installed is something that has passed through the whole club. The under 23s, under 18s, women and the kids, all play the same style. That to me is a huge positive. There's nothing worse than having to teach players to play differently when they reach the 1st team.

If we go up, which I expect, yes we may get a points deduction, but we will buy better players. The important thing is the footballing ethos, which will get better as better players do it. When you watch Man City, it is so similar to us, but they have better players. That's the difference. They still play what some of our fans are calling boring slow football.

Anyway, I'm converted and convinced with Enzo. Just because Dave, 73 from Braunstone says he hasn't got plan B or its boring, won't change that.

I will be cheering them on, pushing them over the line, hopefully looking forward to what is next on this rollercoaster ride called Leicester City.

Up the Foxes

What a great post. I genuinely thought we would struggle this season what with a new manager, new league and players gone. So to be top with 9 games to go is good going.

IMHO, Man City aren't anywhere near as pedestrian as we are. Yes the process is the same, but better players are able to play that game quicker than us and that's where their success stems from. Yesterday showed that any team willing to go toe to toe with us, who has a bit of pace, and has wingers playing on the correct side, can tear us apart at times.

Maybe I should wait and hope that we can get better to play this system, but I dont see how we will, and add to that Enzos stubbornness to consider anything else, means I'm still a long way from being convinced he's the right fit.

I agree with most of what you say, although I would question the Man City analogy.

They (Man City) try to move the ball forward at the first possible opportunity and then set up camp around the edge of the oppos penalty box, they then try to probe for an opening or a player not fully concentrating. This puts immense pressure on the defending side.

We on the other hand tend to fuck about on the edge of our own box and often pay the consequence for this, i.e. Faes yesterday.

Yes, Man City sometimes go back to the keeper if absolutely necessary, but they quickly get the ball back forward and resume the probing.

We on the other hand pass it back to the keeper and then decide to stop (usually with stick man standing with his foot on the ball) while the oppo have a bit of a rest and regroup. We then start the whole slow process again and any momentum is lost.

Why do people want to castigate others for showing their opinions we all see the game through different eyes, keep saying this one mans meat is another man's poison
We are slow, we are slovenly, our midfield yesterday was awful, thank god we had a finisher because without him we would have lost after countless opportunities were cast aside, we are in the doldrums, l don't think otherwise

That what I'm trying to say. Same system, better players. We can only improve. Some of our players shouldn't be near a system like this as they're not good enough, but I do think it's about getting the philosophy into the club as a whole

I think we mostly agree, Im just pissed off that Enzo sticks to the system so rigidly when we clearly need to have an alternative on occasions. For me that stubbornness is a massively weakness, not a strength. A different approach may well have produced different outcomes in the games we struggled in, some positive and some negative, but I dont think we would have been sweating on only having a three point gap at this stage.

A good manager makes the best of what he’s got, he doesn’t try to get players to do things they have proven they are incapable of.
When we pass the ball between the centre halves it means the whole team is facing our own goal, when the ball is in the attacking half it means we’re facing their goal. Football is a simple game, keep it simple stupid.

But that's the thing they have shown they ate capable of playing this system hence being top

Watch the big match forget Man City both times today are playing at a million miles an hour with an accuracy we can only dream about, in any scheme you play, it's about finding space and mobility

I’ve just watched Man City play is slowly out of defence including someone standing Vestergard like with their foot on the ball.

For fucks sake, will people stop comparing us to Man City, it's emarrasing! We look absolutely NOTHING LIKE MAN FUCKING CITY!
I mean the principles of playing. I know we are a million miles away.
The point I'm making is they keep playing the same way whatever the situation. So do we, and we will until Enzo leaves us. Rather than fighting it I'm trying to get used to it and embrace it.

It’s acceptable when it’s successful

They're playing Liverpool not Hull.
And?
My point was that there were claims that Man City always play it much quicker out of defence than us and don’t have players standing on the ball.
If anything I’d have thought it was more dangerous to play it against Liverpool than Hull.

Although our defensive line up of Hamza, JJ, Faes and the Vest is faackin garbage, I also think Winks is totally average right now and without Ricky playing or KDH picking up the reigns we look awful at times.

For me it’s Coady, Doyle and Nelson with Hamza until Ricky P is back

I would stick Cannon up front and as much of JV as his body will allow.

Faack Datsun off and Nacho too and let’s give the last ten games a real go.

You have to practice to make it successful and takes time to get the players in place for it to work.
Higher quality players would probably make it a success in half the time. The League is generally shite, so thankfully we are where we are with the quality we've got, but no one on God's earth can believe that IF we get promoted the majority of this squad could hack it at Premier level.
With PSR hanging over us promotion may leave us feeling as flat as a witches tit come next August.
We can only hope that the Board - whoever they are- Enzo, and the twat Rudkin have things sussed. I'm not hopeful!!
