The spirit of 2016.

That’s what’s missing.
What those guys did with a manager who knew how to take the pressure off them seems now even more unbelievable than ever. The togetherness, spirit and fight was 100% there.
So it seems that for the 4th season out of the last 5 we’ve blown it. Two 5th finishes, relegation and now this bag of crap.
It’s probably partly my fault. I remember looking up to the skies in 2016 saying if we win this I’ll never ask for anything else football wise again. My Leicester City experience was complete. 2021 FA Cup was the massive cherry on top of the cake.
Remember folks nobody can ever take that away from us, not even those Spuds fans and players who seem to somehow perceive in their thick heads that they not only should have won it but deserved to win it. That club is cursed. We’ve got Winks and Bayern now have Kane and Dier. Sums it all up for me.

Vichai must be turning in his grave RIP
The legacy left behind that should have emboldened the club to move forward is now a pipedream
I could not conceive this scenario after his untimely death his leaving obviously has left a void which, could have been a golden legacy, but has turned into a headache for those left to decide our fate, squandering
Our resources on people no not good enough to lace up the oots of previous encumbants
Herein lies our biggest problem recruitment designed for forward movement, has given way to stagnation a big scale.

I say no more because hand on heart lm beyond dissallusionment

Totally agree.

I’ve supported the club for 35 years, there have always been eras of ineptitude and shite, but then teams that have had an undisputed team spirit.

I first saw it under Brian Little, then O’Neill, Pearson to an extent and definitely under Ranieri.

There is such a disconnect between the team and the supporters at the moment and I don’t think it’s just synonymous with Leicester.

Players are still treated like Gods as they were when I’d autograph hunt in the early 90’s, but they and you all felt part of the same dream. Maybe because they’re millionaires , maybe because they’re conscience and presence is served on social media instead of face to face.

All I ask is effort. I work hard to pay for my tickets then travel to Leicester from Manchester to watch the games, I do my bit. I love to see passion and pride in the badge, I don’t care if we’re in League 2, I want to see the team care.
If even one of the players had been screaming and bawling at his teammates last night and showing that they gave a shit, I’d have found the performance easier to take.

Under O'Neill and Pearson we had a great team spirit. Players would run through the brick wall for the manager. Both of them were great man managers.

I wore my signature sign t-shirt to a festival where I was accosted by a few fellow football fans for a photo shoot as I was in Brugge by Leicester lads and Edinburgh by a political comic who insisted that I got involved in his interview to praise our team spirit and the general aura of that Rani spread amongst everyone who loves football, this was compounded by a Cagliari fan who ran up to hug me outside a bar where I was engaged in discussion with a rangers fan to express his affection for the man who for me will always remain the spirit of all things good in the game that I admire and adore 🥰

But what if we win all 4 of our remaining games topping the second division and return to the Prem at the first attempt - will we still criticise EM because he did it his way? We're currently 22/92 in the English football pyramid and we've freakishly lost to two teams ,both fighting for their 2nd division lives, narrowly in a week - 'tis a football! This time last week, when we beat Brum, our team spirit / determination to win was unquestioned.

Coatsworth and Kendal have both explained it very well. Footballers as we know don’t even have to get a 4 year PL contract anymore to become a multi millionaire. Very average championship players are paid way way beyond their talent. Compared to any other sport they are made into complete icons. So much smoke up their arses it’s a joke.
Interestingly a golfer just in the worlds top 100 who has to pay for his own expenses including coaches, caddie etc has earned on average less than £1m per year in the last 5 years. Tennis top 100 even less. These are big sports. Yet 100’s of players in England alone will earn more than those guys, never mind the rest of the world. Some can literally never play yet earn around £2m/year. I give you one Danny Ward. Mason Mount gets over £12m/year yet has hardly played this season.
And there IMO is the problem. They are so completely in a separate world to the fans that it’s almost unbelievable. Yes of course football is the worlds biggest and most popular sport but it’s totally out of kilter with reality in every way

I had a long ‘discussion’ with my wife about Leicester yesterday.

She hates being around me when we play or afterwards when we lose as I’m a horrible person apparently. In my defence, pointing out that she is a long time supporter of Manchester City as far back as the 80’s, she should understand, but also may lose about 5 times a season these days, maximum, she isn’t well placed to pass judgement.

Thing is, the club are in my blood, I worked there before I moved to Manchester in 1997, my first ever part time job was at Filbert Street too.

Leicester City have been there for me before I even met her, during some really tough times the football was my release and my salvation, but they also have the characteristics of an abusive partner, they make you feel like shit and will always let you down, but this is punctuated by some sublime occasional highs, which when we we actually achieve something is a high like no other.

What’s my solution to her comments?

Watch the games on my own in person or in a padded cell I suppose.

Yes, I think so.

Losing narrowly to two teams fighting for their lives is forgivable in my book.

But moaning about player workload and then making hardly any changes or subs... continuing to play out of form players....making zero tactical changes during the 90mins - all those things are unforgivable given the 'must win' nature of the games.
