Some were due to inconsistencies with player transfers and some because of administration.

Well they survived, have been to the depths of despair and back and I saw them compete last night at The Emirates stadium. So whatever happens, we’ll be alright.

That got me thinking the whole administration thing was a big deal back in the day. I can’t recall the last club who fell foul of that rule. Is all this FFP / PSR to protect businesses going under and reforming?

That was the explanation but in retrospect it’s clearly to stop the upstarts challenging the BCCs. It would be simpler to say clubs that go tits up have to start at the bottom of the pyramid.

On the Radio Leicester podcast earlier this week they spoke to Kieran Maguire, the football finance expert. He put it very neatly: "Leicester winning the Premier League was a 5,000/1 occurrence. After that happened, the big six changed the rules [re: TV money] to ensure in future it would be a 50,000/1 occurrence."

Two things can be true at the same time. Yes, the club has been mismanaged, particularly with regards to giving ludicrously generous contracts to mediocre players. But the rules the club has been working within are utterly shit and have been designed specifically to keep upstart clubs like ourselves in our place.

It's possible to be angry both at the way the club has been run, but also at how distorted and corrupt the system is. Which one you focus most of your attention on is a matter of choice.
