R.I.P. Wilko Johnson

I knew Will Birch back in the day. When he was with Kursaal Flyers. Had some great stories about Wilko.

I work with a bloke who roadied for him. He told me once that after a gig they were passing round a spliff, & my colleague said " I can't, I'm a train driver, too many Drugs & alcohol tests".

Here you are then, says Wilko. You better have this,& turned round & handed him a Native American head dress

The mid 70's, pre punk.

New direction for Bowie
The demise of Slade & T Rex
Rod & Ferry sold out to corporates.

My teenage self was blown away by Down by the Jetty, Sneaking suspicion, Stupidity etc.

R.I.P Wilco.

Last time I saw Wilko was at Harborough leisure centre back in 2005 as part of " The mad The bad and dangerous tour " along with The Hamsters and John otway.

Sorry Walthamstow. Don't understand.
As my colleague was unable to partake in the passing round of a joint, due to drugs & alcohol testing. Wilko, turned round and passed him a headdress that was laying about, or whatever they're called.
As worn by sitting bull etc

I still don't understand. What has the Native American Head Dress got to do with not having a blast on the spliff?

Never had the pleasure of seeing Dr Feelgood but saw Wilko with his band in Nottingham in July this year. An amazing guitarist and stage presence who had a massive influence on many bands. A really intelligent guy too. RIP Wilko.

John Otway was support. He’s still daft as a brush!
