Perspective

We have just had one of the biggest upheavals in years at our club, we finally got rid on Rodgers albeit 2 years too late, the new manager doesn’t know who will be here and who won’t, he is also learning about players every day, you can watch players from afar and have an idea about them but until you work with them day in day out then you find out their quality , heart, etc.
He may well have been told things that have turned out to be untruths about who is staying and who is leaving, we just don’t know.
Rudkin(somehow) is still in a job, he should have gone with the rest. Enzo will take time to find his feet and who he wants to stay and who he doesn’t, but to judge him as some have on here on a badly conceived friendly schedule is wrong.
He knows how he wants to play but probably doesn’t have his players in place yet and he has to shake the bad habits from the club inflicted on the players from the previous regime.
The supporter need to give him time, at least 2 more transfer windows in my opinion to make the wholesale changes that are needed to the playing staff.
The players are in a state of flux as well, Daka, Vesta, clearly not good enough but with injuries I’m afraid his hand has been forced .
Im sure behind the scenes cogs are turning to bring in different players but other clubs know or think we have money from the sales of players and the parachute payment and are playing hardball.
I hope he proves to be an inspired appointment better than the usual suspects, Gerrard,Lampard ,Smith to name but 3, but we need to get behind the team otherwise it will be a long old season.

Aah ‘Perspective’! One of my favourite words (ask buzz) relating to Leicester City and life in general.

Excellent post George. Chapeau to you monsieur.

Good post, I agree with most of it but not with this giving a manager 2 windows or time to build his own team. He took the job on knowing what a load of shit we are and players who played in friendlies who hop illy are not even going to be considered.
The term ‘manager’ means to manage, no excuses like give him time. He needs to reflect what the fans know about some of the shit we have and how incapable they are.

I normally agree with you bent, but there’s so much wrong with the club from top to bottom, a poor set of players and no open cheque book.To many on high wages they cant shift on,this is going to be a long term fix. I think we are in in a complete mess and we shouldn’t be

No manager has two windows to shine. One window is the difference between boom or quite literally bust. We can be Sheff Utd or Sunderland.

This is why people need to be patient. If he was coming in and had an open cheque book then it would be his team to start with, but he doesn't and is likely to be stuck with some of those who weren't good enough.

In hindsight, but no-one was saying it at the time.
Actually after the second late collapse in May 2021, a few people on here were saying it. Not me, unfortunately, I wasn’t going to completely give up on Rodgers for another eleven months, more fool me. But Bnet, Snooty, Soho, Harwich - the usual suspects, to some, they already saw the writing on the wall. Elsie Heffsey was the seer at that time, openly fearing that the The Golden Age was over.

If we don’t give him the time to impose himself on the club then we could be on the revolving door of managers we were on when we ended up in division 3. We don’t know if he knew the extent of the shit we were in, we have all been for jobs where you start and think WTF am I doing here this is not what I was told at the interview. Some players can look excellent in training but are rubbish as soon as they set foot on the pitch(Soumare?) he needs to find this out and I believe he will do but it will be no quick fix.

He should have read the posts on here, that would have given him some idea.
It's a shame Rudkin didn't.

Let's not forget that even the mighty pep, with all man citys millions, wasn't a magician in his first year. They finished miles off first place... even we smashed them and we were rubbish that year.
It takes time and patience to implement a new philosophy.

Arteta's another example of needing time when he first went to the Arse

My opinion is that he should get the best out of the players that we have and can get in by playing to our strengths. Settle the ship, get everyone pulling the same way. Then implement the new way but only when it’s comfortable otherwise we could be dead before we start.
We are already following the square peg in round hole strategy.

The only players who are looking any good are the young uns that seem to have hunger in them.
We CAN NOT play out from the back with players like Vestithing in the side.

I think the new boss has settled in well, considering Tielemans, Barnes, Maddison, Evans, Soyuncu, Mendy, Amartey & Mendy (all first team players) all fecked off and I expect a couple more to go as well, he hasn’t really got a lot to work with, only 3 new signings and a young loanee coming in so far plus injuries to Coady & Vardy and maybe Praet as well, only good thing is that if we do sign any more players they will have trained with their own clubs so they won’t be cursed with the Seagrave injuries (yet)

You can use examples of giving them time or not giving them time as much as you like. It means nothing, one step up the wrong ladder is two steps away from where you aim to be ! We have to be aware of this, not use the “wait and see” or “give him time” approach - it’s keep your eye on every detail every day.

I was using blind optimism until I watched our pre-season games, g the y tell me that we look like a mess, hope it’s not this but it looks very much like he’s going to set out with this Man City plan even if we are incapable of it, no slow transition.

With us conceding for fun by giving the ball away constantly in our own half is going to be scary

I didn’t see yesterday’s game but by all accounts we were v good in the first 30 mins. Were we good or Liverpool bad? So what suddenly happened. I’m assuming they just stepped up a gear.

We started well for the first 25mins which is a improvement on the last 2 seasons when we havent got going until after halftime.

I honestly think that with the likes of Barnes, Maddison and Tielemans playing yesterday, we may still have lost 4-0.

We were on the front foot from the start, caught Liverpool cold, they then started to press and we just sat back and fecked about trying to play out from the back, 2 goals came from mistakes, our chances fell to Ndidi who couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo, Liverpool did look good though…

You can see what he’s trying to do, and that’s fine and if the club can get him the players to do it we’ll be grand.

But, and the big nagging but is we know most of these players are technically deficient.
you can't play out from the back with def mids that can't pass for starters.
i bang on about this, but ndidi cannot pass, he just can't, which limits your options for playing out, you often end up going wide before you can come back inside. it was so predictable last season, we were easy to play against.
i just hope against hope enzo isn't another de sousa and we don't get tanked a few times in the first 10 games by much more direct opposition.

What many of us are forgetting is this is the Championship, not the Premier League. Probably 20 teams will come to our and sit back and defend for their lives. Maybe more.

We need to learn to unlock a mean defence. How we play out isn’t likely to be as big an issue as it is in the big boys league.

Right now I don’t see us unlocking many of those defences.

We need a few players who know this league and can help us to navigate it. Even if they are only here for one or two seasons. Starting with a couple of forwards.

Should go all out for Piroe, scored goals in this division, we still need to shift 4/5 players, Ward/Iversen (both if possible) one of Thomas/Kristiensen, Praet, Castagne, Ndidi, Daka, that should raise enough for Piroe and a creative midfielder from god knows where…
