I was gutted. I didn't see the point of sacrificing a European adventure, something that as been a rare privilege in our history, in order to gamble and try and gain qualification again. As it stands it looks like there is now a strong chance that it's backfired.

I disagree. In normal circumstances we’d have had a decent tilt at it but these teams still in it have been playing Sunday Thursday since we were knocked out.

Something had to give. We have been ravished by injuries.

If we get Champions League for next season then great, really great. If not we will give the Europa League a really good shot next season, I’m convinced of that.
