New England kit

I thought it looked decent but kit designers always find a way to make it look a bit shit. Almost without exception.

Yes, that's for the one with the same material the players wear.

You also still get a purple St George's cross.

🤬

I quite like the actual kit.
But why change the colours of the St George cross?

As it stands it's an England kit with a purple cross on it.

If they changed the x3 lions to three rabbits I'd be mildly irritated but this story is pretty lame.
Really? I'm no nationalist, and not really that patriotic. I've never flown a flag. I'd change so much about England, but this does get my goat. Its just so fooking stupid and I can't believe any sane official at either Nike or The FA thought it would be a good thing to do.

At least one kit previously has had the St George flag in different colours, but it appears not to have been noticed then (or something like that).

Problem is, this has deflected it away from the cost, which should be the issue of focus.

That’s the problem. Seeing sane and FA official in the same sentence never happens

Ditto, but this is Nike, the same company that, at first, refused to manufacture the England ladies GK kit cause it wouldn't sell. They are living in the clouds.

Peter Shilton getting his knickers in a twist over The Flag of St George. So much so, he's added an extra colour.

& I'm tying in Italics

Nike reckon the purple and Red Cross is a nod to the teams 1966 training kit . WTF
That's just marketing bollocks. I doubt any of the marketing people at Nike were alive in 1996 let alone 66. For the record the 66 tracksuits were blue with red and white trim on the collars and cuffs. This coincided with the match kit which had white shirts, blue shorts and red numbers. Also, a couple of years earlier they had 2 red and blue stripes on the socks as they did in many later versions of the kit once the marketing guys got their hands on it.

As I said, there have been many abominations of the England strip since it went commercial none worse than the one Jamie had to wear. To be fair, some have not been too bad. The 1990 World Cup for one. The 96 kit was not to my liking but the team was good.

And nobody made much of a fuss when Stella McCartney bastardised the Union Jack for the athletes' kit.
