GS said we have very good wide players to play either side of HK

Rashford
Saka
Grealish
Foden
Maddison
Sterling

I could see HB going North to play international football

Grealish, Maddison and Foden are creative No 10s pushed out wide as their inclusion satisfies the press. There is no number 10 role because Kane drops into midfield in an attempt to show what an all round player he is,but gets in the way.k

Walkers goal aside, he is mostly crap in this role and it leaves us light in the box a lot of the time. These obvious deficiencies are largely irrelevant considering the dross that we play in qualifying but glaringly obvious the moment we come up against a decent side.

Yeah that's, just showing off. Nothing to do with wanting the ball
Kane is our top goal scorer and main striker, he needs to have some discipline and lead the line and do his primary job.
We have a number of players, like those mentioned above, who are much better in the creative no.10 role than Kane and would probably be even better having a striker doing his proper job ahead of them.
There are so many times that we have no one in the box, it is self evident that if the main striker is out wide or dropping into midfield to play balls in, he can not be there to finish.

I do actually agree but he's always played like that, same at Spurs. It's not stopped him scoring plenty of goals.

The answer there is for the attacking midfielders to bridge the gap (in the same way that Son & Kulusevski did, when they were at Spurs together).

However, you’re dependent on choosing attacking midfielders, which someone like Maddison could turn out to be.

I just feel that for England to be more successful against better opposition, we need more of an attacking threat. Our wide attacking players do stay wide a lot of the time, and with Kane dropping off there is minimal goal threat through the middle.

That GS seems reluctant to play creative/attacking players in midfield adds to the issue, little inspiration and no pace. He does pick them sometimes but then plays them out wide!

We have to do better to be real contenders.

England are very much in a stick or twist scenario.

Stick with Southgate and his safe, boring methods that get us through qualifying only to go out to the first decent team we meet, or….

Introduce a new, pacier attacking style and go for broke attitude. We might fall flat on our faces but we might just surprise everyone.
