I love Leicester city.
But, it's time we had a talk.
Since the Thai's took over in 2010, we've won the Premier League and the FA cup.
We've also only made a profit in one financial year (i think) the year we won the title.
The owners have also written off hundreds of millions of loans multiple times and we own our stadium (i think)
We have a great stadium and they've spent money on a state of the art training facilities, which by all accounts are far more expensive to run than the previous setup.
Herein lies the problem, since 2016 we've had delusions of grandeur.
We wanted a seat at the big boys table having punched above our weight, but we don't have the administrative setup to achieve that.
We are not a big club we are a provincial club in an average sized town with a fanbase that will never match a BCC.
We have a CEO who every year trots out the same line at financial results time about the Thai's being in it for the long term, and working for the long term stability of the club. How does that square with making a loss in literally every season and getting relegated?
We have a DOF who has fucked up deadline transfers twice now that would've got him fired from a BCC after just one. The daka one may cost us points.
You see, we want to be a big club but with a small club setup.
Before he passed away big top saw us as a family style club, a Norwich if you will, biffing the big boys on the nose, but as a hard nosed businessman he really ought to have upgraded the admin side of things for us to really be a big club, because now we have an owner without his nous or passion who's reliant on these incompetent clowns like Rudkin and Whelan blowing smoke up his arse.
We had the chance after the 2016 title win, to put a better structure in place, but we didn't, and we've pissed money away on absolute shite with the odd exception, and with an inflated wage bill and mounting costs, our losses have gone up and up (pandemic notwithstanding) whilst our position has got lower and lower.
you cannot run a business as a loss maker all the time, it beggars belief (although i'm sure KP get to use us on the balance sheet against any profit to lower tax liabilities)
After this season whatever happens, promotion, points reduction, whatever, there needs to be a root and branch clearout on the admin side of the club.
Personally i think we are fucked financially if we don't get promoted, and if we do, we ought to do a norwich/luton and sell anybody we can, agree we'll come straight back down with kids, freebies and cast offs, but at least we'll have a cushion for future FFP/P&S and be in a stable financial position.
After 2016 we should have left the yo-yo years behind us, and it's an indictment of the club that we still are.
I am utterly pissied off with the shambles on and off the pitch at the moment, and after 50+ years of following LCFC don't know if i can care anymore.
