Leeds fans

Leeds fans I know down here are gloating after winning their cup final against us, don’t know any Ipswich fans but would prefer them & us to go up leaving Leeds & Southampton in the play offs, with West Brom winning the play off final, now that would be a Carlsberg moment… 🍻

The hotel we stayed in seemed to be full of Leeds fans of Irish descent.
The ones I spoke to all thought we were the better team, should have won, and will still go up automatically.

I always found the folks of North Yorkshire pretty decent, those in the Sheffield area are called dee daas by Chesterfield / North Derbyshire people based on "dee guz down road and daas turn reet" way of talking" but are known for being insular and a not liking southerners and that is anyone south. Leeds is a cosmopolitan city and a decent place to live but I found that that the people can be really abrasive at times, again I did not find them too warming towards outsiders, saw a fair share of road rage too. Put that mix in to a football match and it's ready to kick off, they were major league football hooligans back in the day. Leeds fans will always be nasty its in their DNA.

The Leeds fans I know all acknowledged they got out of jail on Friday, we were the better team but only had ourselves to blame for not finishing the game off. There were some gobby fans in the pub I didn’t know, although they didn’t hang around at the final whistle. Didn’t hear a peep from them till they equalised. 🤡

The company I work have a head office in Leeds, I’ve already had ‘messages’ looking for my thoughts.

tell you what, and always found this - the staff at Leeds are the most friendly and hospitable out of all the clubs.

The fans, a bunch of freaks though. Hated them on Friday night, l had to wait half hour outside the Peacock for my mate with the car keys, you'd have thought they'd won the Champions League and the World Cup, not just nicked a game. Bit like Arsenal in '16....

Though I don't know many, every Ipswich fan is decent, level headed, and good company when it comes to talking football. I know a lot of Leeds fans and each one to a man is a twat.

As someone who knows them from living and working with them they are decent and fair hope they come second.

“We are the Champions…Champions of Europe”.
Still convinced they were “cheated” in 1975 and have been deluded ever since. We were arguing with some twats who were still spouting this nonsense in the Merchant bar after the game on Friday night. They eventually lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich in the Paris Final but are still moaning about 2 penalty decisions they were not given and a Lorimer “goal” that was initially given but then ruled out after Beckenbauer sent the ref to consult his linesman and it was then ruled offside. The Leeds fans rioted in the stadium and outside afterwards resulting in a 4 year ban reduced to 2 on appeal. While the appeals were going on they reached the Semi Final stage in 1976 before the ban eventually came into effect.

I remember that game and Leeds were robbed!

Most of the Leeds fans who still sing that song now were not even born in ‘75.
No mention of the awful tackle that Terry Yorath “launched” into Sepp Weiss that put him out of the game as early as the 37th minute. Described by his team mate,German international Uli Hoeness,as “the most brutal foul I think I have ever seen”!
Hoeness himself left the field just before halftime after tuning awkwardly on the pitch with an injury that ultimately ended his career early at the age of 27.

Still participating in mass racist chanting and will still do imitate aeroplanes mocking the Munich air disaster when playing Man U.

Yeah of course they're decent and fair.

Dirty team and awful fans.

Given his handle and what he was responding to I suspect he was referring to Ipswich Town supporters.

Leeds teams in the Don Revie era were the “arch intimidators”. Went to the Davie Gibson book launch at the KP and all the “Ice Kings” and 60’s to early 70’s players in attendance when asked the question “which was the dirtiest team you ever faced” all agreed on Leeds as the answer. Mike Stringfellow related how Leeds would line up on the concrete floor besides our lads in the Elland Road tunnel scraping the sharpened metal studs on all their boots to try to intimidate!
