Leaving the game early

Don't get it myself especially when you've paid top dollar to watch some of the best players in the world but maybe if you have plans for Saturday night or a train to catch.

On Sunday there were plenty heading for the exits way before 90 mins.

At 2.00pm on a Sunday afternoon?

Hope the Mrs didn't burn the Yorkshire puds.

Surely you've endured the game-length wait to escape from Wembley??

Especially with the new added time rules, some people must have missed at least 15 minutes of play on Sunday.

I think many people just do it out of habit.

Recently I’ve left early a few times when it’s been particularly shite.

I’ve never left a game early voluntarily.
I took some pride in the fact I had not left a game early since Leeds away in the 70s when the car driver that day decided he wanted to get away before it all kicked off outside.

That was until I went to Fulham last season and at about 70 minutes I'd had enough.

Strangely in both games I missed two Leicester goals - coming back to draw 3-3 at Elland Road and two consolation goals at Craven Cottage

Left early in the epic Shrewsbury game which went on for ever..I had to be back in Walsall for work that night!!

Sounds similar to me. Left on 60 mins at Highbury in the 75 cup match. Getting chased all over the Clock end by Millwall and others. Next time was Fulham too last season. I’d had enough on 50 mins. Felt very strange

Bolton at home 5-0 with Twato in charge and The Plastics last season 3-0 with another Twat in charge I normally last till the end but couldn't face it last season ...

l started doing it 2 years ago, Forest FA Cup was either the first or second. Been a bit of a habit from then on.

l left West Ham when our two centre halves just decided to pass it between the 2 of em for as long as they could.

Oh yeh, being 5-0 down at Arsenal at half time, we all left !

Never used to. Now I live over an hour away, if I wait until the final whistle and get the traffic, it can be two hours plus to get home. Not good on a school night when mini-stam has to be up for school in the morning or I’m aligning with our offices in the Middle East which means a 6.00am start.

Sack the Arabs off sharpish

1997 and a classic night at Filbo.

Arsenal 2 up with about 10 to go.

City get 1 back. 1-2.

Must have been about the 2nd minute of injury time when I decided it ain't going to happen.
I walked down the steps from the DD and just started heading towards Upperton Road.

Almighty roar !!!!!

City 2 Arsenal 2.

I was well happy........but fuck I'd missed it.

I continued the walk and on reaching the canal another roar !!!!

It wasn't as loud as the first one. Maybe because I was a bit further away ?
Men with tranny radios filtered the news....

City 2 Arsenal 3. Bergkamp hat-trick. !!!

Well it justified my early exit......

Now on the other side of the hill on Upperton Road.

Boom !!! What a sound.

Walshy 3-3 !!!!!!!

If ever there was a lesson about leaving early 🤔😁

That’s a tough way to learn the lesson.

I still have flash backs from the hangover after that game at Branigans.

Me and my mate drove all the way back from Torquay for the game, left the women and kids there and got blitzed, woke up in my own bed not having clue where l was.

Never used to leave a game early, however since I've moved to Brizzle leaving early can take 40 mins off my journey time. Stayed to the end on sunday and with the link road between Aylestone Road and Narborough Road shut, it took me ages to get out of Leicester. Caught up with the Mongs Coaches on the outskirts of cov. Don't know if the banners had been taken down by then!!

I can beat that...

I used to travel from London with a couple of mates (Colin Martin RIP) who couldn't go that night.

Started driving on my own in hideous torrential rain. Halfway round M25 I decided turn back and give it miss.

Not only should you not leave early, but you should make sure you get there!

For those who leave early...
Don't think I'll ever tire of watching clips of that match. A few things of note:

- Could MON's instructions/exhortations ever be heard when the noise is that intense?
- Kasey's positioning for their 3rd goal was ruddy awful
- They were a team of fighters weren't they?
