To be fair, it is said that that was the number, or there abouts, at his disposal. There were enough to drive to within 200 miles of the Kremlin, without a shot being fired on the ground.

From other reports, most Wagner stayed behind. While they did so, a larger contingent of regular Russians were airlifted in to secure the area. Progozhin couldn't go backwards and got zero support from any officials. He was going nowhere.

If you really believe that this is not the case, why do you think he stopped? Do you honestly think that he was in a winning position?
