Much as we might dislike Pickford I would rather have had him in our team. It meant something to him. Not sure I could say the same for any of our lot apart from maybe Vardy and perhaps Albrighton. Maddison said the right things but didn't see that on the pitch. His penalty attempt highlighted that he is not the player he likes to think he is. He shouldn't even have been near that penalty.

I think Madders is the least blameworthy. He stood out as our best and
most committed player and his form forced Gareth to play him for England.
If anything he overestimated the fight the rest of the team was prepared to offer
in his 'we will be fine' comment.
He was a LC man through and through (like Barnsey)
and was devastated to leave.
To have such talented players forced to leave to balance the books is the real crime.
The big clubs unload their worst players and the not so elite have to unload their best players.
There will be others who will enrich themselves and our club but having to climb the
mountain all over again is gutting.

Trouble is Daggers the so called elite players see nothing wrong in their performances when it is apparent to all that they are not putting in a full shift
He was, and always will be, a JM man through and through.
Clubs sell their best players when they get relegated, but he'd have gone to a bigger stage regardless. Or he'd have signed an new contract before.
