How do you placate a Manager

Who in essence has so many differences in his position to the hierarchy can plan or scheme to secure a position in league for safety it is to my mind an unenviable position.
It requires more than a bit of luck if you are hamstrung, and could be the straw that breaks the camels back.

Start by being open and honest with him. Then involve him in the club strategies so he can align his with the others. Then let him help make decisions which affect his area of responsibility. Don't crap on him.

Honesty is the best policy. Be up front now about the financial situation, given our knowledge of income in this league what we can and can’t do, and what if anything we absolutely need to do.

Keep the target for next season simple - survival.
Then have a credible medium term plan that allows the club to build back to being a top-ten side.
These current accounting issues will disappear but manager needs to be assured the same mistakes are not being replicated.

He’s got a top 3 squad with the highest wage bill of the top 3, to the very top of the top 3, so well done on that, but this wasn’t K2, it was division 2, despite what his mate keeps pumping out.

Stop thinking that funding and recruitment are none of his business.
Only when he is fully aware of the financial situation can he plan realistically for the new season.
Learn the lesson from the Rodgers debacle. They thought he would swallow any old bollocks but he got his own back.
He declared in advance of his last season that the squad badly needed refreshment.
How right that was as we now have a huge number of disillusioned players trying their best to leave, some of them a year late..
Deception by omission is never a good way forward.

Have we? Who is looking to leave who is not already out of contract?
Agree with most of your point though!

He should have been paying attention when the whole Rodgers thing was going on, especially regarding the no money for transfers bit? If he had done his due diligence then he could have asked relevant questions at the interview.

Unless of course he was more than aware of the situation but still thought we should get promoted with "the best squad to ever grace the championship", then he would have a promotion on his CV and could plead ignorance regarding the finances and use this as a reason to move on to a better more stable club (Seville?).

Or he got his excuses in early

It's a bit of a myth, that Bodgers undermined us on purpose, to try to get sacking compo, or his own back after being misinformed about funds. The reality is that he always starts well for a club, especially when he inherits an already decent set-up and slowly, but surely turns the team to dogshit. He's just not good enough to build a team of his own...

I include those who have let their contracts run down. But it is not certain they will end up with good deals elsewhwere.

I never mentioned anything about compo or being misled nor that he intended the club to be relegated.
And he did not fade away at Swansea or Celtic.
I think he realised the club was run by idiots, sorry, inadequates, and lost any faith he had that we were genuine challengers for Europe for that reason.

The executive did not include him in planning, the same thing is happening now... they know best.

Ah, but they conducted an end of season review last summer, specifically to learn the lessons.
The fact they instantly made the same mistake with the new man is just bad luck....

Rudkin was in love with him.

If the club continues to not fully include the manager in their planning then they will fail again. Not many clubs have the luxury of saying to their manager Take Haarland, KDB, Mahrez etc and just get on with it.

I read somewhere that the process here was for the manager/coach to identiify a particular position he thought needed strengthening and informed the recruitment dept.
They then came up with three potetentially available and financially realistic names for the M/C to decide on.
Added to the club's academy and development system a seemingly professional way to operate.
Of course football is fiercely competitive and other clubs will have spotted the same players the same way.
It seems that offering unrealistic better contracts secured many players which is probably at the root fo our overspending which in turn has led us the the mess we are now in.
All conjecture but what alternative do we have?

You won’t find many Celtic fans that wanted him back
