Hirst,

What was it we couldn’t see in him again?
Always felt he was worth a chance. Be terrible if Ipswich win and go above us. Need Sunderland to do something against Leeds too.

Gap to third is all that counts.
Ipswich will drop points jan-mar when injuries kick in and their squad depth is exposed.

I hope Ipswich drop away, but I've seen nothing to think they will. Winning is a habit and they've been doing it for 18 months now.

They are very resilient. Keep winning. And they won't be hit by the African nations like we will.

Ipswich next 3 games
Norwich (H)
Leeds (A)
Leicester (H)
Leeds next three games
Cov (h)
Ipswich (h)
Preston (a)

Our next 4 are
Millwall (h)
Birmingham (a)
Rotherham (h)
Ipswich (a)

As I said a week or so back we’ll know a lot more come 9.45 on Boxing Day how this league is shaping up at the top end.

Hopefully we will win tonight but even a draw puts us on 50 points.
P 21 and 50 points.
Even if we had quite a dip in the 2nd half of the season we should still finish in the 90's.
Eg P 25 and 45 Points would give us 95 points.
I can't see us finishing 3rd with that total.
Leeds would need to P 25 and get 55 points to beat us.
Leeds would need something like W 16 D 7 L 2 to get past 95. Not unattainable but difficult.
The league is stacking up with teams fighting to be in the playoffs. They will take points off us all.

What Adumass said….. Also BBC reported that Ipswich had made 5 changes for this match from their weekends 2-0 win at Middlesbrough
Maybe, but there's a big difference between making changes because you can (competition for places) and making changes because you have to (injuries). Players who have to perform to keep a place v players who know they'll get picked because they're the only option play differently.
