Very sad. Another great defender from the 70’s who I never felt bought into the dirty Leeds way before moving on to Manure. Wasn’t his a double deal with Joe Jordan

"A few of their players said they were going to do me and Jimmy Armfield, our manager, told me to count to 10 if anything happened. The boy (Manuel) Clares spat in my face. I counted to 10 and then knocked him out. I was sent off. Missed the final."
 
I wonder if young blokes would have still been prepared to head footballs constantly if they had been told they would have dementia by their 60s and be dead by early 70s????

When you’re in your teens 70 seems a very long way away and you don’t give a toss, it was a bit like smoking as a kid, lung cancer wasn’t something you’d be worried about. It’s not till you get older these things take on more meaning
 
Very good old school defender in the mould of kenny burns.
