I spoke to him in The Brickies after a game, looked like a doorman all dressed up, decent sort and a cracking player for us…
 
The late 80s were dreadful for attendances.
Sub 10k crowds were common and I was at most of the games.
Which is why I always resist the idea that Filbert Street was always great - because it wasn't in that period.
Often it was quiet, a bit dull and the team were crap...not only modern football was rubbish...

But look at those stands……. like a proper cathedral, dwarfing everything else around.
Not like the new one, overlooked by a second rate hotel.
 
Yeah I prefer the look of the two good stands at the old Filbo.
That Double Decker/Main Stand corner is etched in my soul.
There were great times as well - many memories and where I spent a lot of my youth.
Filbert Way isn't pretty, but it has built one hell of a legacy in its 21 years...

but that wasn't just limited to Leicester, there were very few teams in the 80's that could count on pretty full grounds week in week out. A less than half full Stamford Bridge even with a lot of people in the shed for example.
