The left side is all right footed this has caused us problems in the last two games. Cags has to play if he is back for meSouthampton vs burnley 3-2
Some could say Walker-peters was at fault for both goals (certainly the pen) so it’s an awful shame Barnes won’t be there to terrorise him on that side all game as he didn’t look like he could cope.
West Brom vs Southampton
Goal #1 Walker-peters fails to track his man
Goal #2 Walker-peters found completely out of position and gap exposed
Goal #3 again, Walker-peter’s right hand side channel is utilised and he’s got no chance.
For me there’s a very clear pattern/tactic that we can exploit.
Over those 2 games they scored an array of different goals from different sides/distances/players so it must be 4-4-2 to defend well against their options but also play the wide channels and pepper their full backs
Kasper
Pereira Evans Forfana Castagne
Albrighton ndidi teilemans perez
Maddison
Nacho
That’s just my opinion.

I'd rather we start with 11, tbh...Who you dropping? Forfana? Or playing 3-5-1?
Ha! Point well made filbo let’s try 4-5-1 as you insist....I'd rather we start with 11, tbh...
I would start with a 3-5-2 to be honest, gives freedom to change if things go wrong. It will be about our attitude more than anything else , if we start slow we look predictable and allow sides to come on to us.Who you dropping? Forfana? Or playing 3-5-1?
the only thing I would say is that we tried 3-5-2 against West Ham and then changed to a much more effective 4-4-2 when it was far too late...why wouldn’t we start with what we know were good at and not risk it. I totally agree with the attitude, it was the off field circus that cost us mentally in the last game, probably more than the actual tactics and lack of urgency!I would start with a 3-5-2 to be honest, gives freedom to change if things go wrong. As I said the team had a right footed left side against man city and west ham, players have to keep checking back its un-natural, one goal could decide Sunday? And whoever scores first will have an edge, they tend to play two up front and are physical so who ever he picks it will be hard. Just my opinion what do I know.the only thing I would say is that we tried 3-5-2 against West Ham and then changed to a much more effective 4-4-2 when it was far too late...why wouldn’t we start with what we know were good at and not risk it.
