Cray Valley Paper Mills!

Best part of the cup these days. Try telling the players and fans at the lower levels it doesn't mean anything.
The cup is spoiled by the attitude of clubs in the top 2 divisions.

As Barking were knocked out I’ve been looking at local FA Cup games today with a view to going to one. It’s not easy though as only regional leagues are allowing fans in.

Canvey Island is the closest but that’s all ticket and sold out!!

Spot on , Never played In the FA cup but did play in the FA vase once in 1978 for Syston st Peters lost 1-0 to Hinkley Town, highest level game I ever played in, even at that level it gave the players a big lift.

That was a good journey to Bridgwater for a cup tie ;)

Coachload of us went to Telford to watch Hinckley Atho' in the FA Cup. 0-0 after 90 mins so it went to extra time with potential penalties because there had to be a result on the day with Atho' not having floodlights for a replay.
Gordon Banks was the Telford manager and he sent on Geoff Hurst as sub to score the only goal.
None of us paid we just climbed over the turnstiles. The Bar got wrecked and police dog units were called in. Atho' manager Dougie Chandler stood in the middle of the wreckage and thanked us all for coming. We descended on Wellington after the match and there were multiple arrests during the night until the police escorted us out of town!

Bishop Auckland v Nuneaton 1981. The most mental day ever at the football.

Never underestimate the finances of the FA Cup either. Winners today get £9.5k on top of the £13.5k they've won so far. Crucial cash at that level...

What about Concord Rangers, Daggers? Also at home today on the Island...

Paddy Ginelli and his lads trashed the Union Hotel one Saturday night on their way back from a Boro' game at Grantham. A lot of the Hinckley lads were at Twickenham following the Tigers. It got sorted back a few weeks later when the Ginelli pub up at Hill Top was 'visited' and got comprehensively wrecked!
My mate Randall fought Paddy on another night in Hinckley. Paddy got the best of him in the end and JR said it was like wrestling a bull. Couple of weeks later JR and some Hinckley lads were drinking in the George Eliott Hotel when Paddy & Co came in. Just when it looked like it was "Here we go again" Paddy shook JR's hand and got another round of drinks in. Last I heard of Paddy a couple of years ago he was a shadow of his former self and in a wheelchair. Sad to hear that really!

🎵And it's Cray Valley Paper Mills....Cray Valley Paper Mills FC🎵

🤔

Saw them lots of times up the Albion, that was when the senior league was the senior league
I remember my dad taking me along. My first taste I believe was against Friar Lane.
Some do-gooder in the J & S Social Club ended their Senior League days by insisting that only employees of J&S could play for the team.
Hence the best players were gone and were replaced with rubbish like me🤪

Did Ezzie Millet play for Jones & Shipman?

Didn’t Nuneaton draw against Middlesbrough a few years ago. I think if they’d have won they’d have played Cov in the next round. Is that right?
