Can you remember

Took my two lads - was in the Filbert Street end for a grandstand view of Gerry's equalizer.

Not so easy to see their opener, a long range shot through the red flare smoke. Flowers had no chance

Vienna was a madhouse. Stayed on for a couple of days after doing the tourist stuff and still plenty of City staggering around pissed.

Got locked in a bar pre match in Vienna as there were so many of them on the rampage. Taken to bar near the ground post match by some locals, they got the owner to open up just for us.

St Stephen's Square with those caants on the rampage in the afternoon before KO was a bit iffy.
Next day went on a trip up the Danube which was great.
Mrs S greatly enjoyed riding in the horse drawn carriage round Vienna.

Was right behind the goal when the ball flew past Flowers in the smoke. The look on his face was priceless.

Feel very lucky, done 13, thinking everyone maybe my last. Haven't done an away league game since 2016 though to fund it.
Trying to think now.

Vienna.
Brugge.
Copenhagen.
Porto.
Seville.
Madrid.
Randers.
Naples.
Eindhoven.

I also went to Celtic for the pre season game in 2016.

Have I forgotten any? I’m surprised none are Eastern European.

I didn’t do the first Atletico game.

I didn’t go to Moscow or Athens, or Rennes or Rome. What other games have I missed?

Legia Warsaw?

Who knocked us out that first Europa League season, Slavia Prague? I didn’t go there either. I don’t think anyone did.

Edited to add what a fuck up that was. Embarrassing really.

Thanks for that Daggers, I’d never listed them before and hadn’t realised I’d done so many, most of which I was pissed with Glos and a fair few in the company if other roofers.
Thanks one and all.
Great times

I did:
Glasgow (Celtic)
Stockholm (Barca)
Bruges
Copenhagen
Porto
Seville
Madrid
Warsaw
Rennes
Rome

Was ill so didn’t do the Eindhoven/Amsterdam one for PSV.
Couldn’t win the race against time for Moscow Visa post Warsaw and was too raging with BFR/TCR to go to Naples.

Bruges probs my fav city, shame I ruined matchday by being pissed as a fart and behaving like a caant.
Porto was brilliant.
Enjoyed Warsaw very much as an international care in the community worker escorting the elderly to karaoke bars.
They were all good in their own ways. Results of the games didn’t even feel as important as they should have.

You never know when we’ll get another chance 🦊

Got taken as a kid to the home ties against Glenavon and Atletico Madrid in 1962 in the then European Cup Winners Cup. But obviously not the away legs.
We were in the competition as losing FA Cup Finalists because Spurs had done the “double”!

Missed all of the Europa League/Conference ones that I could have gone to as lockdown & not travelling made me realise how much I had come to hate the process of travel, heart just wasn't in it anyway and that was without the extra rules (also missed the O'Neill Madrid one which hurt then and hurts now). So in terms of LCFC only that only leaves...

Competitive games:
Vienna, Bruges, Copenhagen, Porto, Seville, Madrid

Friendlies (glorified or otherwise):
Stockholm, Lille, Leuven (first post-lockdown trip)

Loved them all but that Vienna trip was brilliant. A few days of pleasantly absentmindedly wandering around, bit of culture, lot of drink, late night Wurst (somewhere civilisation will be defined as the ability to wander around a nice European city wearing a beer overcoat & with a hot sausage warming y'belly). Day of the game I was keeping my usual low profile and it so often felt that war was breaking out around me. Then back to Nottingham just before 11pm on the Saturday night ready for an early train to Sunderland on the Sunday for a rendezvous with the top of the Premier League.

Stockholm I absolutely loved.
Had my photo with the Prem trophy
Met Stockholm fox
Did some great outdoor swimming
Managed to insult a whole tube full of locals in error
Went to the museum of Swedish life

So many fabulous experiences and stories from all the European trips, most of which I was lucky enough to go on and spend a few days in each destination. Happy, happy days I’ll never forget (of what I can remember - yea verily even the dodgy karaoke bars of Walsall 🤪)

My pinko commie comrade’s post reminds of the time we were in Copenhagen. He rang me out of the blue and said “Hey KP - do you fancy joining us for a game of 10 pin bowling?” I had to decline the almost irresistible offer as I (and my faithful companion Neil) were out on the town looking for the statue of Kierkegaard - I needed to find it to impress Aristotle(as he was at the time) aka KP jnr. You couldn’t make it up! 😁

As Soren so pithily said “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards”

Yeah, another half for Celtic. I did 5 Champions League, 6 UEFA/Conf, Vienna and Stockholm. All memorable in their own way, but PSV, Randers and Brugge lead the way. Memories!

I did Copenhagen Porto Sevilla Madrid Eindhoven and Rome. Missed out on Napoli Warsaw Randers and Rennes due to recovering from the big C.

One friendly was Los Angeles. Completely bizarre. Photo with the PL trophy, meeting the Birch and Bruno, chatting with Keith Weller’s family and sitting next to the Wints whilst being offered candy floss from the locals. Bonkers
