Anyone know the identity of the Leicester fan who dropped from the Aston Expressway the night of the replay and broke his leg? Traffic jam held up our minibus aloft on that concrete structure ahead of the game. Those iconic floodlight pylons were drawing us in as kick off approached. Our throng abandoned the bus, saying to the driver, park over there somewhere. Ran along the expressway until we could safely jump off and made our way into the Holte End. Just in time. Remember a pocket of Liverpool fans in the bottom right hand corner. And the scouse pitch invasion after the final whistle who ran at the Holte , but only to applaud the City supporters. Only trouble our lot had afterwards was finding where our bus had parked.
Great trip up to Villa Park from Northamptonshire. Pulled into the Postal Management College, {didn`t that turn out some fine specimens}, gardens just ahead of the M6. Pee and daffodil picking. Flowers into empty Guinness cans which were given to female City fans in the next lane snarled up in the traffic heading to Brum.
The OT game I remember pretty much as described above. Our minibus engulfed in heavy Northbound traffic up the M6 , it was Grand National day. On reaching Manchester most pubs near to OT were full of Scousers. Off the nearest off licence it was then. Carry Out and sat in a graveyard enjoying a wonderful spring afternoon as the pride of Liverpool passed us by. God , we saw some sights that day...mostly Female, red from head to toe. "Don`t talk to them , there Leicester fans" ......Thank God. Daft memories from a great day out in the Manchester sun , and as said before, lucky to get that night out in Birmingham. I did a lot of the `69 cup run , but `74 was amazing...only spoilt by the semi final draw.
