£38m for Barnes

Not sure how everyone else feels, but I think that is hell of a deal. Barnes to me is ordinary. £38 is a lot for someone who can disappear for a whole game, won't take a player on, on the outside, has a brain like a football and doesn't assist a lot.

Might be harsh
I guess he has to give some credit for the goals scored in a relegated team.

Expected but will be very sad to see him go as I think he's one of the few players we have/had who had the ability to make a difference. Not disputing that he disappeared at times (and not so infrequently) nor that more than just about any other player over the last couple of seasons he has spent times looking at a loss (and at times lost) at what was being asked of him but for all of that still managed to look the one most likely in games when everybody else looked not at all likely. He is a very good player and in a team that knows what it is doing will thrive.

That said I think £38m if true is good business for us given where we are and realistically I don't think that we have any option other than to sell if that sort of money is on the table given the constraints of **P.

Some saying the fee is actually £40m plus add-ons. If so there must be some credit due to the negotiators.

I'm also inclined to think he'll do well for them!

A pity as he's a homegrown talent who's been with us since the age of 10 but he's clearly PL standard and has frequently been on the scoresheet, even in this last very poor season.

Rodgers fucked him up. Everyone noticed how he stopped taking players on, coming inside and passing. All on Rodgers instructions.
He'll do well at Newcastle.
Champions league footy, unlike Youri.
He's not demanded to go, kept quiet and waited. He was always going to go.
Good deal for him, good deal for us.
Good luck I say.
👍

Was he ever known for taking on players?

I can’t see it.
He does that left and right shimmy and keeps going straight ahead. Defenders know if they stand still he will run into them.
If Howe can teach him how to take the ball with him he’ll do great

Yes, push the ball and out sprint them, he's never been a really skillfull player in the snivelling Arab mode but has great pace. Under Rodgers we stopped getting to the byline and pulling it back. When we did it was pointless as there was no one in the box.
Passing for passings sake.

So I know his Aunty quite well. She’s just told me he’s having his medical right now.
He was gutted we got relegated. He knew there and then he’d be sold which he didn’t want as he’d been with us since he was 7.He mentioned the whole club management was a mess last year and said the moral was rock bottom. Too many wanted out.
So he’s gone. I wish him as a Leicester lad good luck. I’m glad I at least saw his very first game in Porto and his last in May.

Only downside of our European adventure away was having to watch some of the games through that annoying netting!
