You'll miss it when it has gone

Sadly the BBC as an independent voice has been neutered by the Tory party . Sadly subscription and commercialisation is coming .

BBC Sounds alone is a bargain for the money for me but I appreciate it’s not for everyone.
I can afford the subscription but many can’t
and as you say won’t realise the jewell we’ve alloiwed to be destroyed until is gone .

wait till middle England have to pay 20 quid a month to watch Strictly and MoTD 😂

Actually my apologies - it was her sister she took on as a secretary. She employed her daughter as office manager.

Sorry about that.

(and yes Dickie - I saw that too. Some women is our Nadine)

For rather a long time I have only watched MOTD and MOTD2, usually recorded or on catchup. I would miss those.

Otherwise, nothing. We never watch live TV so it would mean nothing to me. Quite enjoy 5 live but not essential anymore.

The BBC is very much like the current Tories.

A profoundly left wing organisation pretending to be anything but. Quite successfully too from what I read on here.

so successful is their influence on society that - over the last 15 or so years - the british public have voted......oh, sorry. ignore that.
The influence over the nation is finished, ref the beeb, non of my lads, grandkids gaf, they access their information about what’s going on from various, personal sources, then they make up their on minds-

Very true for the youngsters but a lot of the older folk still rely and trust the BBC.

have i got this right - your opinion is that it is older folk being influenced to turn to socialism by the bbc?
Pretty much, but the older folk don't see it as socialism because it is the Conservative Party with that nice cuddly Mr Johnson.

It is a 'new' form of socialism, all the big stuff, economics, open borders, the green agenda, the NHS are determinedly well left of centre which no one challenges, some use the word 'globe-marxist', not sure what to call it myself.

Are people conflating BBC news & political content with everything else they produce?

If so, get your news from elsewhere. Dramas, documentaries, footy, sports, music coverage, BBC Sounds, 6Music, BBC4 - I’m getting my money’s worth thanks.

My guess is that most people complaining about it are paying eye-watering sums for the likes of Sky, & most media bemoaning the BBC’s stance have subscription costs higher than what each of us pays for the BBC annually.

Id call it conservatism

A few folks aren’t happy that old white men in DJs aren’t reading the news anymore.

Of course you would Richard. You believe anyone slightly to the right of Joe Stalin is a conservative just as I believe anyone slightly to the left of Ronald Reagan is a socialist.

Just a matter of perspective.

The BBC is very like the tory party, at the top level at least, but also like the Tories, as you filter down the hierarchy to more everyday matters it becomes more and more left wing. The woke agenda invests all it's output, it is across every genre, not just current affairs.

Is that true? Standards are really slipping, Alvar Lidell was properly attired even when reading the new on the wireless.

One could argue it’s balanced in that respect then.

I’d hate to see an unwoke music policy for 6Music - Skrewdriver’s music is awful.
