Womens Euro’s

Can’t people just make their own choice if they watch it or not whether that be live or on the telly? I personally don’t give a toss what other people think, say or do.

if 75,000 people like it so much that they want to part with a few quid and go and watch the game, what’s the problem with it? Same as those who chose to watch it on tv if they think it’s better to watch than Coronation Street for example, or whatever on catch up, then who cares?

Precisely.
Right, I'm watching Garden Rescue this weekend. Are you? It's almost as good as Gardeners World.....

I have no problem with womens football and wish them every success, in the same way as women's cricket in the 70s when Rachel Heyho Flint was doing the biz. What I object to is having it shoved down your throat at every turn and the pretence that it is on an equal footing and level of general interest with the men's game - it isn't, fact. However this does not fit in with the wider agenda. If you don't like it, or the fact that mens football commentary/punditry has to have a quota from the fairer sex then you are a dinosaur, gammon whatever. Vicki Sparks on MOTD? Jesus wept.

Can't disagree with any of that, especially Vicki Sparks, I don't watch it myself, have no interest, just don't see why people feel they need to complain about it (not aimed at you SK24U). If you don't like it watch something else.

This would never have happened in the good old days when men insisted on having their boxers ironed, it kept women too busy to be bothered with this sort of thing

I blame Brexit

I did referee some Woman's games around 2004 - 2009 including what was then Leicester City Ladies and Derby, Nottingham Ladies etc. I also went to the USA Cup in 2004 to referee youth / U19s including Girls, teams were were from USA Canada and Europe. I found the standard to be really good, the girls and women's teams were technically excellent there was lots of skill, good levels of fitness and tactically decent. However it is just a totally different game to men's and even youth football (from 14 / 16 years old). The men are pretty big athletes certainly at professional level, it is about skill and strength. The women's GK,s are smaller, so are all the players, they are not strong on heading, it makes it a totally different game and should not be compared with the men's game. On its own it stands up as good entertainment, great levels of skill, plenty of passion, if you like it go and watch it. If I lived in the Leicester area I would go along to watch the LCFC women. As things are the BBC etc are promoting the women's game because they and the media are obsessed with equality, they want all to be on the same level. It never will be, its a different game.

Be careful they'll be a woke bloke in his 50's telling you you're signalling.

Why is someone admitting they watch women's football "woke".

My 10 year old lad is Leicester mad (men's) and I think my 12 year old daughter is looking for that attachment. If that means I have to sit through women's football so be it.
Because despite shouting about how they aren’t caught over left vs right some people feel the need to label those they disagree with, making them no better than the rest of us.

Do you remember when you were young, and the older generation used to moan about something new, saying it's rubbish?

Well that's this thread.

You can put your 'woke' label on it if it makes you feel better, but all this is simply something that's been happening forever. People not liking change.

The woke reference wasn't aimed at watching it, if you want to watch that's your prerogative, it's the continual suggestion by the media that we're as interested as we are in men's football. We're not, but then some daft woke bloke, will tell you I'm signalling, whatever that means.

Slinging fascist insults is purile women's football used attract 40,000 during ww1 and after until the male dinosaurs in blazers banned it in 1921 they've had nearly 80 years to catch up, why don't you go a Leicester Women's match and express your misogyny.?

Who's suggesting we're as intersted? They're publicising a competition they're covering. The usualpeople stuck in the 1960s moaning. If youdon't want to watch that's up to you, doesn't mean it's "woke" because they're showing it.

Best ask Top Fox or your mate, seems to be a phrase they like to throw around.
Err, point of order. I used the term once, as an abbreviation for the oft-used term "virtue signalling" in a coherent post about people's obsession with precisely that process. If that is "throwing around", then I'm sure you (and everyone else) are equally guilty of doing the same with other phrases of your choosing.

I know what you meant and that you only used it once, it does get used regularly by others who don’t like anything they don’t see as being ‘normal’.

Well better tonight. Not sure how good or bad Norway are but we’ve taken them apart. We look the real deal.

Disappointing display too direct and didn't move slow enough or from side to side ,defender's didn't touch it enough either, Southgate would be disappointed especially as there are too many flair players in side.

I’d tell you what. Our Dutch manager Wiegman has a lot more acumen than Southgate
