Winks and Maresca

Cooper is tactically inept unfortunately.
Second half Forest score, flood the midfield and leave Winks anonymous with no space to work with.
We need not to lose at home to stay up. We're not doing that enough right now.

I thought winks would join Chelsea in summer Asa enzo started recruiting, still rate harry as a player who would look good in a top team even if others don’t what i do agree with at present is as stoke posts “we’re fucked 🙁 love to be wrong and often have been 🦊👍

OK, being honest here….. I’ve heard Matt piper saying that first half was the best we played, and I see people praising Winks…
I thought he played us into trouble on numerous occasions and got his team mates in the shit several times

Forest got it wrong tactically in the first half, When they sorted that at half time, Harry was .
played out of the game and nobody we had reacted to the change. As they had double marked
both our wide men out already we were never going to come back.
My early intention to give Cooper a chance is evaporating as he, although no doubt a decent
coach, seems unable to adjust as a manager in games, whether tactically or substitutes.
That game was won by a chap sitting at the back of the stand..
Another potentially damaging issue is that we are not confident enouh (yet?) to get control of games.
Cooper needs a main man on the pitch. Coady comes to mind and he can't be a bad centre back can he?

As wrote I see harry fitting into a good team as we looked in the 2nd division last season most weeks so deep down maybe I’m wrong to rate him , luxury player I guess and at present we need grafters but remember we live in times where everyone appears to want to copy manc types instead of playing own styles. I for one can’t stand watching Man City anymore.

And not much use when we have all said if we play that style we’ll be relegated given the players we have.

We need to battle at times too.
Definitely not all of us.. I don’t buy into the notion you have to stop playing football in order to stay up.
Plenty of decent footballing sides have stayed up.
So much gets focussed on Burnley playing football and failing to stay up but ignorance to the fact the two other teams that went down were more direct. It’s a convenient narrative and talking point for anti modern football but it’s violently overplayed.
If you do it competently, you’ll stay in the league. We got promoted with 2 inferior sides so only had 1 other to find and it’s a pretty poor top flight right now. We’d have absolutely pissed survival with Enzo and Enzoball (given no points deduction) however much his detractors don’t wanna hear it.

I’m not so sure Shane but we’ll never know.

Our squad is weak. Not the weakest in the league but enough that if we don’t get it right we’ll suffer.

I’m not saying it’s perfect now, far from it in fact. I just think we would be up against it had Maresca stayed.

But not by dikking about at the back without the players capable of doing it, not using 3 or 4 players to take a goal kick then putting your defense under pressure, not by marking zones at set pieces, not by bring everyone back to defend corners and not by being totally predictable in your build up play.

Defensive mistakes this season have cost us goals.
3 against forest
1 last night.

Probably a few more as well.
We basically need to score 3 or 4 to win a game.
Sides are charging thru our midfield, there’s no bite in there.
I think I’d go 5, 4, 1 and try to shore things up for a few games.
Got to stop leaking goals
