Why are fans getting searched going into the ground ?

I heard they're still embarrassed at missing the baby squad forming back in the day. So now the focus is fully on stopping the grandad squad...
I got searched and had a pat down at Yeovil Town in November, I am 69 next month. I complained about this (email) to the club Secretary, she got back to me to say she had sent this on to the stadium manager, heard nothing, I have not been to a game since. It seems that this is yet another issue that is driving us fans away from the game. There is no doubt it is being driven by the matchday jobsworth who are not using any common sense on this, search everyone means search everyone to them. When you consider how safe stadium safety is now compared to how dangerous it was back in the 70's and 80's it is mind boggling to think that OAPS need searching before they enter a football ground. I utterly hate modern football, where is that time machine!

It still completely throws them if you ask a question just as they’re about to start. Something like what time they open the gates as you’re going to have to leave early, or where the nearest loo is when you get inside, etc. Bingo - pat down avoided!

Directive to the matchday security Jobsworth is to search -

All white males

Including Coffin Dodgers

Do not search -

Blokes who want to be birds

Birds who want to be blokes

Gay black muslim dwarfs

;)

My usual question is "what are you hoping to find"? That normally throws them.
I say this every time yet still get searched.

The other thing that pisses me off is every stadium now has the same policy about no bags bigger than A4. It’s never been am problem for years yet over the past year or so it’s become a huge issue.

If it goes under the seat and is searched on entry I don’t see what the problem is.

Clearly there has to be a cut off so people don’t bring suitcases (not that Imve ever seen a suitcase being brought into a game).

If I lived locally, I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation one day to put one of absolutely everything that's on the banned list in my pockets and under my hat – just to see how they react.
And maybe claim that I thought you weren't allowed in unless you had them all...

Years ago me and my mate took a bottle of vodka in, it was in the west stand, so probably no checks. We only got hassle from the stewards when we started offering them a swig, even then they didn't take it off us... It would be interesting to see how effective this policy is.

There must be a safety officer and a team who sit around deciding this shit, would love to be a fly on the wall, tho flies are probably banned.
