Who’s been to a gig since they started up again?

DagenhamFox

Blue Roofer
I went to Tramlines festival in Sheffield the first weekend after freedom day and had a great time.

Last weekend the council put on a free gig in my local park, I saw John Colgan’s Quo, Neville Staple from the Specials with his ska band and the Boomtown Rats.

Friday I’m off to see The Cribs and Supergrass down at Crystal Palace at an old venue they’ve just re-opened Crystal Palace Bowl and I’ve a couple more gigs on the bank holiday weekend.

I’m amazed how much I’ve missed watching live music this past 18 months or so, I think I’ve missed it more than football, maybe because that was streamed live and I went to a few local non league games last summer / autumn.

Not yet. Got tickets for Paul Heaton and Jackie Abbott for October. Not sure of what hoops I’m expected to jump through though. Sort of puts me off. Hence not getting Reytons tickets when they were released which I regret now. I think after September they’ll be at bigger venues when the kids suddenly discover them.

Tickets still available for the Leicester gig I think? 12th October.

Nothing as of yet, though I've tickets to a couple of gigs at The Jazz Cafe.
I wasn't required to jump through any hoops, just bought them online.
.

I almost forgot, it's Rodigan & The Outlook Orchestra on Sunday.
An outdoor all dayer, featuring the man himself & a host of irrelevant artists such as Freddie Macregor, Horace Andy, Bitty MacLean & Don Letts......should be a cracker.

I’m planning a trip to Germany next year to see them. I reckon they’l be amazed when 15-20 lads mainly from Sheffield rock up in a small venue.

Tickets are still very reasonable, they will soon increase.

Agree with Lonesome I didn’t know Quireboys were still going. Fair play to them. I’d forgotten all about them.

Crystal Palace Bowl is a great venue, a natural amphitheatre and not too big for an oudoor gig, 5,000 I think it holds. I’ve been to a gig in the athletics stadium over 20 years ago but never before at the bowl.

For those that know it the old iconic stage is still there but they erected a temporary stage on the small lake in front. Apparently it would cost too much to update the old set up, plus people like to be closer to the band.

The Dead Daisies have been going since about 2013. They are a kind of minor supergroup & have loads of different people playing with them. Slash made the odd appearence in the early days, also Marco Mendoza. Glenn Hughes is on lead vocals at present. They play great rock & are well worth checking out if that's your taste. They are played quite a lot on Planet Rock.

I think the Quireboys are headlining their own tour either later this year or early next year.

Another great double header that I am going to at Rock City is The Sweet supported by Limehouse Lizzy. For anyone who has not seen Limehouse & loves Thin Lizzy I can highly recommend them. The singer is even a dead ringer for Phil.

Hey @Richardvanles I managed to get in tonight to see King Hammond. He’s probably still playing.

I enjoyed him and his band but I enjoyed support band Skapones more.

Possibly because King Hammond only had a trumpet player (nice she was too) whereas Skapone had the full brass ensemble.

Anyway cheers, it was a great recommendation and much better than a covers band in my local. Also 100 Club is an iconic venue and it was my first ever visit.

I watched some of the gig last night on his Facebook page. He live streamed it. The Skapones are a solid band.

Was at The Forum, Kentish Town last night to see Sleeper and The Bluetones. Louise and her band were brilliant, I really enjoyed them. Bluetones were a bit meh.

I was at Savfest at the Vic Bikers club at the end of July which was great Rock festival with a lot of up and coming bands and all for an excellent cause. I was in Morecambe the week after watching a couple of Goth bands, then at Stonedead Rock festival in Newark last weekend, headlined by Uriah Heep and featured Terrorvision, Gun, Massive Wagons and Wayward Sons (ex Little Angels singer) amongst others. It was supposed to be headlined by Black Star Riders (Ricky Warwick from The Almighty and Scott Gorham from Thin Lizzy) but one of the band caught covid a few days before.

All being well I'm In Nottingham Tuesday with my daughter seeing Declan MckEnna, then in Leeds next week for HRH Goth, headlined by Fields of the Nephilim and My Dying Bride and back to Nottingham the day after for Black Stone Cherry at Rock City. Massive Wagons again on the 18th in Birmingham, Wendy James (ex Transvision Vamp) at Firebug, Blackballed at the Vic (featuring the guitarist from New Model Army), and then the Subways and Art Brut at the end of the Month at Rock City. All of these are re-arranged dates due to covid, and my November, December and January are just as busy. But it's so good to back watching live music again!

I saw the Dead Daisies a couple of years ago at the 02 in Leicester and they were brilliant as were The Quireboys when they supported Skid Row in 2018. I like what i've heard of The Reytons too.

I went to see Heaven 17 in Sheffield last night. They did the Human League albums Reproduction & Travelogue from start to finish and finished with the Holiday 80 EP, Fascist Groove Thang and Temptation.

And I thought I’d been busy!

I was a huge Quo fan in the early 70’s, so very curious to hear about JC’s Quo. How were they?
