Whist we are all moaning

Totally agree Kendal.
It was a standout season.
Loved meeting up at places some of us had never been to.
That day out in Southend I'll always treasure.

Maybe that period was more enjoyable because most teams were beaten and it was a extremely successful season?

I reckon lots of Leeds, Snottingham or Sunderland fans would beg to differ regarding things being great in Div 3.

Imagine being stuck in mid-table and being stuck at a mid-week game in Grimsby or Carlisle, for example. I reckon there would have been more than the odd glance at relegation quotas at Betfair et. al.

Actually it wasn't about the winning it was different grounds different fans it was surreal really because div2 was a hotbed of versiferous fans and the calm approach which (obvious winning most matches)
You enjoyed the pre match activities more as you knew mostly we were the best side

Better fans the lower you go. No plastics, mainly people who were born and bred in the area, and stick with them through thick and thin.
The Prem maybe a great television product, but the lower league's provide the raw football experience that so many of us used to enjoy before money turned it into the BCC league.

My best away days in Div 1
Kettering - pre season
Orient
Colchester
Northampton
MK Dons
Millwall (despite the burning cars)
Southend.

I remember the congratulations from other teams at the end of the season, and there respect because we never made out that we are the big and boys and they are beneath us. I think administration knocked that out of us?

Didn't enjoy Northampton too bloody cold, enjoyed prematch drinks at MK but we missed the equaliser as we came away before the end
Best one Southend beautiful day brill company and we won

It was a bloody awful season. Some might have enjoyed the off field activities but having watched us at that time for nearly 50 years in the top two tiers and having a string of international players it was just unconscionable to find ourselves for the first time in the club's history at that level. It was a bit like Man U getting relegated to in 1974. They didn't celebrate when they got back because like us they should never have been there.

One mighty big blow it was at the time, but we had flirted with it before, and that Season before relegation was as bad as anything I had seen in all my years. Think we averaged a slightly over a point a game.
But that Season in div1 gave us back some appetite for the following Season

Another shout out for Hereford. Cathedral prior to the match to see the Mappa Mundi for a culture fix and then on to Edgar Street.
I can remember Bernie being particularly ripe that day (god rest his soul)

Bit like shock therapy then but not something you want to recall.

It was one of the hottest, sunniest days of watching football I can recall, in a beautiful city. The coldest, miserable day was definitely at Oldham. Thought I’d freeze to death in their shanty stand 🥶

I enjoyed MK Dons apart from the walk from the ground to the railway station. Did not realise nearest station was Bletchley. Thanks Maxie.

Maddog and I got lost, I have no idea which station we ended up at (slightly the worse for wear), stood there for sometime before deciding there were no trains running on that line. Met Daggers for the first time.
