It is possible to question the incompetence , corruption and yes - increasingly authoritarian behaviour of our present government, without screaming about traitors , worldwide conspiracies, Jewish plots and mass hangings- which anyone with even the slightest understanding of history should feel extremely uncomfortable about .

Fair enough Fg, many people (myself included) think that our government is working to an agenda that is settled at a much higher level than parliament. To believe that is, to my mind not a big thing, the evidence of this is the way that almost all western developed nations and their governments follow the same agenda.

If you believe that to be true, and for most people a pretty bad thing, then what do you do? The deliberately set up biased voting system system means that the ballot box is useless, peaceful protest is ignored, then the only answer is violence which does work.

It works by using violence to persuading the authorities to change their policy, if changes are made the violence stops.

Plenty of examples from the poll tax riots to the IRA, just for starters.

No I did not. And the Poll Tax in not the same as the Council Tax.

I am quite happy with the idea of a Poll Tax, as I have said before, 'No representation without taxation'.
 
It wasn't violence that stopped the Poll Tax. It was non-payment, refusal of the police to taken enforcement measures against non-payers and the eventual defeat of Thatcher...
