When Do These Bastard Olympics End?

It's not compulsory, just ignore.

The only bits I see are on the screens at the gym, no sound so....fft.

How many Olympics tournaments have you lived through Soho? It’s always been the same, 2 weeks every 4 years (albeit slightly extended now due to the football tournament).

Based on the fact the opening ceremony was about a week and a half ago I’d say the closing ceremony will be this weekend.

Agreed Soho .
Mrs FG gets suddenly “interested” in sport when The Olympics and Wimbledon are on .Both excruciatingly dull .

I’ve absolutely loved it. Watching sports I’d never bother with but when there’s a British interest I’m 100% in. I love the fact that these complete sporting nobodies who’ve spent 1000’s of hours training have their moment of fame. Deserve it far more than most of the delinquent overpaid footballers who scream like schoolgirls when they get the merest of touches. A 13 year old girl attempting something on a skateboard which to me looks life threatening. Love it.

What could possibly be more interesting than loads of people trying to get back to where they started from quicker than loads of other people

It’s a breath of fresh air! Sports you wouldn’t usually give two shits about are there, right before your eyes. 13 year old British girl won a bronze in skate boarding earlier. We’ve overtook Australia, little old Britain showing the world what we can achieve 💪

I'm fervently hoping that Free Style Farting in a Colander might become an Olympic event soon. I'm in intensive training as we speak just on the off chance hopefully. I believe I would be in with a very good chance of 'bronze' at least!

I'm sorry but I'm a traditionalist when it comes to the Olympics. The problem with it now, is that the event has become far too bloated and there are so many sports that have no place being in the Olympic Games - either because they are merely a niche pastime (bmx, skateboarding ffs, climbing, surfing ffs, trampolining ffs, beach volleyball etc.), better described as performance art (rhythmic gymnastics, synchronised swimming/diving etc.) or sports that already enjoy 'majors' or high profile world championship events (golf, tennis, football, baseball etc.). A major cull is urgently required...

Yeah. bring back tug o' war, none of this modern nonsense. Would you not consider sailing and horsey stuff to be a bit niche? Hardly inclusive sports. Can't see many estate kids joining a sailing club.

So if you were around in the 50's, you'd have advocated the hula-hoop and Yo-Yo tricks?

It keeps the Yanks in medals, everytime some crackhead slides down a hill on a trashcan lid in Colorado, it's a new sport and they manage to win gold.
