West Ham Match Thread

Hope noble starts again on Sunday because he’ll be buggered early doors playing 2 games in a week after hardly playing all season.

Used to look forward to when Lingard played against us for Man U as he was crap, gormeless fecker is playing in the form of his life for the hammers...

This shows there’s some decent players knocking around the fringes of these so called big clubs, you just need to choose the right one(s).

I am very tempted to drop Vardy and Maddison. While Madders has been off, we have accumulated quite a few points. I think like his dead ball play he has regresed and Tielemans seems to player better when he is not there. Vardy on the other hand looks as though he will never score again. I would love it to be wrong but neither at rhe moment add anything special to the team now we really need it.
I'm with you here why not try Perez and Nacho up top with Vardy on the bench as he's struggling and the other two are in good form.

The simple answer is that Vardy on the pitch causes the opposition to panic and gives them plenty of problems to think about.

He might be carrying an injury or be well off form but we’ve seen time and again that just his presence makes such a difference to us and to the opponent.

Agreed. And apart from (an admittedly important) half a yard on Sunday, he looked to have rediscovered his touch and finish.

The issue for me last week and sunday is Soyuncu not playing. Nothing against Armartey, but we are a different side with soyuncu. He enables Fofana to play on the right of the 3 where he is so much better and gets forward more.

May the best team win. If we finish in the top four with the fixtures we have left we'll absolutely deserve to be there.

I just hope we remember this time that the season is 38 games long. We'll finish where we deserve to, as always.

If you are taking one moment where he should and could have kept himself onside as a reason to think he's rediscovered form then you must've missed the other 93 odd minutes whereby after 2 weeks rest he never looked in the game. Never pressed. Never threatened.

Vardy has got to play. I don't base that on any sentimental judgement, purely that any poor spell when you are approaching mid-thirties is deemed to be decline. Vardy being a late starter and a person who still looks lean and hungry to me, still has plenty to offer
I personally believe Vardy has struggled with an injury niggle for a while. This as coincided with a barren spell. Vardy imo is still quick and certainly a clever footballer.
Recently he looks like a player who as become a bit anxious about the lack of goals and consequently become snatchy.
The Man City game was no game to judge Vardy, such was Man City's control over us he virtually had fuck all to work with.
The off the ball running is vital also, Vardy also emits a powerful reputation which attracts close attention, leaving space for others to exploit.
No doubt Vardy needs a goal, he will get it very soon and when he does his confidence will be back and I would expect the bandwagon to roll again.
Don't write him off, I am still glad he wears our shirt rather than an opponent

The same back four that stopped us scoring last time, with center half being named man of the match

Bad day at the office, doesn't guarantee the perverbial lightning strike. ⚡
Personally with our away record I believe we will be alright so long as our bottle is still in tact

Given the circumstances and the table, this is a seriously big game for both clubs.

I shall be wearing my heart rate monitor and have medication close to hand!

I believe West Ham have been riding on a pressure free wave of optimism until now.
Now that they are right in there with a chance, then it will be their turn to start feeling the heat. In that sense I am hoping we will be more battle hardened than them.
