(Brings out onion...) I'm truly overwhelmed with emotion. It's not just about me. It was a complete team effort. I couldn't have done it without the enduring support of my long-suffering wife, son Hippocrates, all my family and friends, my back up team of psychologists, physios and psychiatrists and not least the specialist suppliers of the bespoke pins I used to make my weekly prognostications. I can't thank them all enough.

Shallow human being that I am, I cheered when AFCB scored their second and right at the death was actively wanting F*****t to equalise but I'm delighted to share top honours with Mr XG shanetko who has been consistently good throughout the season. I'm looking forward to the presentation ceremony in The Market Tavern (ticket only, date and time to be confirmed). Jon Rudkin is guest speaker - should make for a lively evening!

The biggest thanks has to go to The Sarge (well done me duck on getting the family bragging rights!) who has run this compo for countless years with ruthless efficiency and an almost fanatical devotion to accurately collating the results each week (though I'm pretty certain he missed an extra point I was due in Week 17 😉). Now you're retired Andy you've got no excuses not to carry on in perpetuity.

Thank fuck this shitty season is over. The Compo was a small glimmer of light in the darkness. As always I hope many more 'experts' will join in next year. It's nothing to do with taking part... it's all about winning!
