In my 55+ years supporting City, I have never, ever wanted us to lose a game. However, if we are beaten by Brighton and Brendan is still in charge, I think I might actually want them to beat us, for two reasons.
First, there’s no way Rodgers could survive the humiliation of elimination by a fourth tier side. Top would have to fire him.
And second, we’d be able to focus all of our attention on survival, which is what we are going to need to do.
As a fan, it will hurt to lose, but the longer- term benefits might just be worth it.
