Vote of confidence in Johnson today

Worse result than Thatcher's VONC
Worse result than Major's VONC
Worse result than May's VONC

And they all ended with the same outcome, eventually.

They were all completely different circumstances.
Thatcher had been PM for over 10 years. She fatally roughshod over her biggest cabinet supporters. She was wrongly deluded by believing she didn't need or would ignore their input.
Arch enemy Heseltine, seized the moment.

John Major was ousted because people were fed up of the sleeze in the later years of 17 years of Tory government. Blair seemed an attractive alternative at the time.

May, didn't want Brexit and was paralyzed by losing her majority. Nothing was ever going to get through parliament when that government was being throttled by the opposition.

I personally don't care if Boris goes, but I will say no PM as had so many major events to deal with since the 2nd WW imo. He got some things right, and fucked up plenty more.
I don't see him surviving this time.

There are just shy of 170 Tory MPs on "payroll".
Including Ministers and Whips, PPSs, Trade Envoys and Party Vice-chairs.
They are not allowed, under the Ministerial Code to vote against the PM in a VONC.
If they did want to, then they would have to resign their position first.

The overwhelming majority of those who opposed the VONC will have been "payroll".
Obliged to back him.
Just a handful of backbenchers "supported" the PM.

Wonder if there were a few new "payroll" jobs handed out yesterday?

However BJ dresses this up, it was a complete disaster for him...

The worst possible person at the worst possible time.

He really thought he could punch through just on bluster, three-word slogans & the rocking back & forth on his heels thing he does whenever he's being interviewed.

Maybe those who voted against him did so because they're not on the payroll

I wrote to mine to say going public with his dislike of Boris made him sound like a mardy arse jilted girl friend

I also am awaiting a reply

Fair play to them for sticking their neck out, unlike so many that appear to have been bought off with the promise of extra finance for their constituency.

After all, what is the worth of a "promise" from Johnson?!

Where does it say this?

Bob Seeley revealed yesterday, that he backed BJ after assurances about bribes funding in his constituency.
