TV Games

Although only the Leeds game has been announced on the TV companies first picks based on the standard schedule, the Premier League and Broadcasters will continue discussions around what's happening with coverage of the rest of the games next week

I don't really understand this post. There's surely only a tiny chance of any change to the now-established routine of every game being televised, with as few simultaneous kick-offs as possible? Are the FT claiming some special insight or role in the decision-making?

Without a long fought campaign by the FSA, which we played a part in, only the original scheduled TV slots would have been broadcast and not the other games this season. Its only because the FSA (particularly Premier League Trusts) kicked off a fuss and started lobbying MP's that we have been able to see all games live to date. Now the precedent has been set for this season, at least for behind closed door games, all games should be accessible, either by TV companies having extra slots or paid for streaming being introduced like is being used in the Football League.

In terms of what we posted above, this came directly from the Premier League keeping Trusts updated

And there I was thinking that one of the main reasons for the 'negotiated' TV coverage was the alternative scenario of fans being driven in their millions towards illegal streams.
No problem though – this was discussed on the old Roof a few days ago. As was pointed out, no-one in their right mind wants PL-club specific streaming, as that will radically bugger-up the already uneven TV money distribution.
