Time to ditch Scmeichel

his decision making is slowing down, and he stays too safe. for instinctive reaction saves he's still world class, but when he has a couple of seconds to make a decision he dithers.

e.g. the decision whether to come for a cross, or not, takes too long...so he stays.

it is exactly the same when he has to distribute the ball from his hands. he'll see someone available, shape to throw it/kick it to them, but then doesn't so it. but by doing that initial action he has signaled to the defenders about the available pass and they close it down. so then he looks the other way, and repeats. i am sure this is one of the reasons our defense get so pressed in when restarting the game.

on both of these - set pieces / distribution - he needs to trust his instinct, rather than second guessing and playing safe.

Theres a simple rule with goalkeepers and l care not what anyone else says. The goalkeeper goes for all the crosses in the six yard box, the reason being is that he as a 18 inch advantage on everyone else and he must use this advantage.

18 inch is the length of his arms above his head by the way.
You must have short arms my friend

Your arms outstretched are roughly 18 inch above the top of your head.

Strangely enough l do use body measurements in my work to get an approx size. Me standing flat footed stretching my fingers and arm above my head is 7'6"/7'7", minimum ceiling height ! and we all pace out metres ... Boring useless fact - sorryšŸ˜†
