They don't want to...

...drag it out. So say BR and YT.
Perhaps benching him on Sunday will give any suitors the hurry up...
And remind our reluctant friend that life will go on after him.

Christ it's been longer than a marathon race already if he ain't made his mind up yet now he never bloody will.
Plus the reluctance of clubs queueing for his services

Your last line is key.

For all the squawking from some on here about him making his mind up/dragging his heels supposedly, if no-one has come in seriously for him, he ain’t going anywhere.

Just a thought, would Martinez pick a player for world Cup if not playing regularly 🤔???
Good question. He has played in most recent games but Martinez will probably only pick two from De Bruyne, Witsel and him. Witsel is also not guaranteed to play at Athletico .. but I am pretty sure Youri does not want the next 3 months sitting on someone’s bench.

It is possible for a player keen on a move to get his agent to do his job and ask a club (such as Arsenal) to put up or shut up...
Incidently it says in my paper that Newcastle proposed a 'structured' deal for Madds to get round FFP i.e. even longer payment plan than normally applies...

Err that is attractive for us! Cash up front folks, Maguire set the structure for these types of transfers.

Again I might be wrong but it would be interesting what that plan might have been as if it was just they'll pay over 3 years not 2 for example I don't think a payment plan with LCFC makes any difference for the PL's FFP. That's just balance sheet stuff isn't it (initial payment comes out of bank, rest is current liabilities & longer term liabilities depending on the plan, full value of the player is capitalised as an intangible asset)? The amortisation would still be at the same rate on the P&L surely as would the salary?

That's the norm these days.
Barcelona are still paying clubs "Structured Payments" for players they themselves have shipped on years ago.

It's always been the case that transfer fees are staged over an agreed term. The piece suggests that in this case they want to pay on an even longer term. This, to me, suggests they are playing with a weak hand. Hope so.
I have a friend who knows the Maddison family and his links with them and this area would probably outweigh the monetary side.
And he is a new father so those links are even stronger.

That will only work for us if the fee is much larger than his going rate.
