These PL postponements

Now I admit that when I found out the Everton game was off I was pretty relieved. However the whole point of these postponements was originally around covid but that’s now moved onto injuries and/or unavailability. Whilst it’s not exactly our fault we have the Africans not with us for a month, we’ve known for ages it would happen. This has heavily contributed to the problem.
The PL have now boxed themselves into a right corner. You can now see the BCC’s in particular looking into how they can play this to their advantage.
Let’s have an imaginary situation. Liverpool are playing an away CL SF on the Wednesday. They’ve an away league match on at 1630 on the Sunday because of Sky. Their CL opponents have the same. But they’ve contacted their domestic league and agreed to switch their league match to Friday night to give them more time to prepare. ( that happens right now anyway). Liverpool have already got top 4 but can’t catch Man City. They’re not allowed however to field a weakened side due to PL rules. So……..

Güten Tag PL. Herr Klippity here. Sadly we won’t be able to play our meaningless match at Brighton, sorry forget I said meaningless, because we’ve picked up 10 small injuries and/or sickness over the last 24hrs. Poor Sadio went into a tackle with the Egyptian dying swan in training and as they both dived, sorry fell to the floor they hit each other’s heads so now won’t be available. Our Brazilian guys decided to have a night out on Friday and they must have had a bad batch of caipirinhas so have all gone down with a bug? Milner isn’t available because he’s now 54 and struggles without his crutches. Dick van Dyke fell over his wife’s clogs and stubbed his toe whilst Terence Trent-Darby is still out of breath from trying to catch Lookman 4 months ago.
But seriously why not? This is the slippery slope. The BCC’s in particular have done this for years with international call ups. Fergie started it with Giggs. Never played a Welsh friendly. Mount had his molars out in November over the break. Not a week later when they had important CL/PL games to play.
Am I the only one to think this is going to get very very silly?

I would like to think clubs have to provide evidence of injuries. Broken bones and torn muscles are quite easy to prove medically.

But it’s the same for international call ups and the clubs seem to get round those pretty easily

We’ll there you go. It’s the start. The BCC’s know the PL are frightened to death of them as they’re so important to their brand
They have always manipulated the FA/PREM now it's absolutely transparent and not just us sat in a pub moaning about them getting the big calls.

If the PREM had acted sooner and had a two shutdown as was reported then there would be no excuses not to play games, but they buckled to the BCC's and carried on regardless, now they are are even more undermined and built a rod for their own back.

You’re spot on. It’s interesting how many games have been lost anyway in that 2 week period. But the likes of Man City have got round it due to having a world class squad of 20 players as opposed to the rest of us mere mortals.

Had we played the Everton game on 26th we’d have had more players available than we do now. That’s not fair on us which is why I believe we’ve pushed for the postponement.

I’ve no idea if we’ll also request Burnley is postponed but I don’t agree with it.

The problem is Dags was the amount of games we had in December. 9 games in 28 days. If we’d have played Spuds and Everton I doubt we’d have had many left by the time we played Man City on the 26th and Liverpool two days later. The simple problem is that EVERY organisation has sold its soul for money.
FIFA and UEFA with their ridiculous national competitions like the Nations cup. Then their club competitions. The FIFA club WC, UEFA making the daft rule that if you played in the preliminary rounds of the CL and got knocked out you go into the EL. If you then get knocked out of that you go into the conference? WTF
The PL insisting that some clubs played twice in 48hrs over Xmas. No need. Everyone could have played on the 29th. But no. That wouldn’t fit in with Amazon. Loads more stupid examples.
The Carabao cup still insisting on two legs for the SF! Joke
There are too many greedy organisations wanting more and more. Stupidly the PL have cocked up here thanks to their no doubt lazy bureaucracy, and others will look at us now and think if little old Leicester got away with it, we all can. I don’t blame BR one bit. He’s looked at the situation and thought stuff this.

I agree with the above LG.
I was disappointed that we had to play Liverpool 48 hours after Man City followed by Liverpool's game on Boxing Day being called off.
When the PL set these deals up with TV companies there should be a stipulation that games must be 3 days apart.
Goodness knows how we would have played a 2 leg SF v Arsenal.

You can only survive if you’re like Man City. Literally 20 world class footballers. It’s why a number of the foreign lot come to the PL and then leave despite the money. It’s a sick joke. LC SF? We’d have lost even to the Arse

So now Burnley don’t have enough players? Or is it they need time to find a new striker in the window? Who knows. As I said the PL have dug themselves a right hole here. This’ll go on and on.

At this stupid rate we will be playing the end of this season in August, and as can be seen now teams are trading players as per agreement with P L, to basically avoid relegation, don't like to say it but Afcon ignore those players, everybody knew, and injured players well tough. Play the youth have a bit of fun for god's sake.
And what about those poor things called supporters, no one seems to be mentioning those poor sods running here there and everywhere- to suit sky- things like an 8 o'clock kick off on a Sunday night away, after a Friday night away 8 o'clock to suit B T.

Yep. My mate had an £80 train ticket for today. Can’t cancel. Gone!
August? If only. They’ll make us play Monday Wednesday Friday Sunday if necessary. The PL don’t care.

My Burnley mate travelled to Birmingham for the game at Villa and only heard when he was past Derby. They should at least allow a day’s notice to call a game off, and some kind of compensation should be available to the away fans who have booked travel.

Who’s giving the compensation to the fans? The club? It’s not just the travel. The Burnley game I’m assuming will now be midweek meaning a no from a number of fans.

There is no compensation. That’s part of the problem.

I was due to drive to Burnley so I’m fortunate I haven’t wasted any money on unused train tickets but I know many that have. Trains from London were pricy.

I was being driven today too, so no damage. But prior, I have lost the cost of train fares to Everton (twice) in addition to home games v Tottenham & Norwich.

BLUE ARMY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't realise Burnley are at home to Watford on Tuesday proper 6 pointer, not that I think that could have anything to do with it being called off what a joke

I’ve been changing the date of my unused Everton train tickets. Done it twice now, will see if I can keep moving the date until we play them next season.

And another one. Big relegation match. No striker now Woods has gone. Out of all the cups so they’ll be playing less times when their potential opponents have just played 2/3 days before. Like us!

The Premier League / FA have made their bed and now they have to lie in it. It’s too late now to change the rules they just need to hope Covid cases do fall and this then becomes no excuse at all.

This will all be after the AFCON has concluded.

The daft thing Dags is that Burnley aren’t effected by AFCON but Watford are amongst the worst. Only one is Cornet who isn’t match fit. Obviously Dyche isn’t happy that Wood has left. They’re looking at Andy Carroll to saved them apparently!!
