The Wobbling Fatty

For what it’s worth I thought he was our best player in the first few months of the season. Great goals vs Man U and Brentford and the most incisive passer at the club. But he went downhill badly after Christmas. He was really poor vs Forest and from what I saw hardly improved afterwards. He wasn’t helped by Ndidi injury forcing him deeper. I still think he is an excellent player but for whatever reason I think his race is run at City

I recall Puel saying that he'd 'lost his way' at Monaco, which was why we'd been able to sign him for the initial loan. And I recall reading at that time about him getting the move to Monaco in similar circumstances.
So if you add a third instance of 'losing his way / form dropping off / head being turned by his agent' last season, then that looks very much like a pattern, no?
He might only be 25, but he was playing in the CL at 16!! Three similar moves in 9 or 10 years surely doesn't deserve such instant blinkered disregard - even on here!
I don't care what he's done, I care about what he will do and based on last season I'm not very optimistic.

I think he's gone........ purely and simply I believe he is an attacking midfielder he is being deployed here in a more regressive role and its probably not to his liking moreover I think he hates it

There’s no doubt he was deployed as a DM in lots of cases when Wilf was injured especially in Europe. Didn’t suit him at all.

This could also demonstrate he was grossly overplayed last season. Perfect example that regardless of how much you are paid, you can't play at the same level 2 and 3 times in a week.

Precisely.

Similar to Mahrez, he's tarnished his legacy with his abject attitude after their greatest achievement (at that time) in domestic football.
Have to disagree - not even close to the tantrums that Mahrez pulled (e.g. general sullenness, hanging around airports etc).

I'd have him back tomorrow.
I’d be prepared to have him back .. but that would require a good long talk about the last 4 or 5 months. I understand that discussion would be in private and if there are explanations fine .. but if it turned out he just said ‘sod it’ then it that’s not good enough.

But anyway I think he’s gone!

I meant Mahrez

correct

I think he is knackered pure and simple. He played 58 games last season and I think 66 the season before.
Maybe that is why he starts the season well and then fades and looks leggy.

I believe last season was 66. The guy has played an extraordinary amount of games in his career. He was just 25 last month yet has already played over 400 club games, all at the top level plus another 51 for Belgium. He’s started most of those games. I seriously reckon he could be burnt out by his early 30’s. He’s rarely injured though.
Compared to Vardy who’s towards the end of career at 35 who has played 340 at the top level including internationals.
No wonder Youri looks knackered. I reckon he’s played too much personally

Nothing is more beneficial to a talented and skilful young footballer than placing him in an environment with expert tactical guidance, encouragement and positivity, whilst utilising said player in his preferred role allowing his skill to flourish.

An apparent polar opposite to the realities of what Tielemens has had to face last season.

Then your beef is with all Premier League footballers, not just YT who is skilful & has the possibility of producing a few moments of magic even when he’s mediocre.
I don't have a beef with him, or other players or their earning potential. I was simply replying the the post above which suggested he was tired.

The problem I have is management they see him as a automatic engine .....can play any or all games with the assumption he is at his best whilst playing......all athletes need breaks to recover whether short or long term he's had a long Season plus his National duties ........yes he has had a poor Season I
relation to previousl but when you play in a role that does not suit your game it is understandable you lose the rhythm that gives you a stand out role in a team

Amazing how some people can turn everything round to it being Rodgers' fault.

Of course he was mid-managed
Tell me a top manager who would have not given him a rest/time on the bench after some of his woeful performances

Amazing how some people can see the name ‘Brendan Rodgers’ where it doesn’t exist

However, you have read the post and in your own mind you believe that the failings highlighted must have been the fault of Rodgers, judging by your response

Who were you talking about then? The tea lady?

The subject of the post was Youri Tielemens

I’m not sure the role of ‘tea lady’ exists now in modern football clubs, and I would imagine there are several roles dedicated to the elements of operation that I described earlier.

But in short, the answer to your question is no, not the tea lady
