Despite his comments he is still allowing thousands of muslims into the country, so he clearly favours them.

No, the Labour Party is too much like the Tory party. I believe that if unions withdraw their funding then the Labour Party is finished. Well here’s hoping anyway 😊 will be interesting to see how NIP do in the election next month.

If that’s true, I guess that makes it OK then, ignoring the sentiment of what he actually said empowering so many closet racists to increase their hostility towards Muslims generally.

You can excuse him all he wants, but as you say, saying one thing (causing more deflection & division) & doing something else just about sums him up.

And yet still some people think he’s credible, because he’s the one they put their faith in, laying into the “do-gooder lefties”, because that’s all they’ve got to hang on to. Utterly baffling.

I would seriously consider voting for a English Independence Party but then I never was that much of a Unionist.

I am not defending or excusing him. Just pointing out that it is better to make a judgement based on what that person does rather than what they say.

Yet it was what he said that meant you voted for him, rather than what he had done in his previous roles which would’ve given you a good overview of his character, & a decent indication of what kind of a PM he was going to be.

No apology required Mm, a robust discussion is fine, even a bit of banter and Mickey taking, personal abuse is something else entirely.

This is quite difficult in some ways. Until very recently I have not at all been a 'political' person so I have little grasp of 'political theory', I try to make my own decisions by looking at what I can see happening with my own eyes, and by gathering information from across the spectrum. Some of my posts are efforts to put my thoughts in some sort of order, sometimes the reactions that I get are really helpful, believe it or not.

Specifically to your post, I always saw Johnson as an 'amiable front man', no real depth so, bizarrely, I saw that as something of an advantage.

I am sure that some probably do, but I think that a general election is very much a national event, settled on national issues and voted on, generally speaking, along party lines.
