The End of an era

The music was thud like.
I have decided to quit making models. My final scratch made model was Gordon Ottashaw's House out of 'Ripping Yarns'. There is an almost complete Filbert Street model on top of my wardrobe that I will complete when LCFC open their Museum in 2046. I will do a few easy bits like the FA Cup buses just to keep my hand in, ha ha. Its been good while it lasted, hopefully I've left a bit of a legacy and a good few of you own a 'Batesy'. I thang yow20210409_154038.jpg

The End of an Era, indeed. You modestly talk about making models, as if they were Airfix kits, as if the bits fell out of some fancy Hogwarts-themed Lego box. But your dioramas, your thoughtful and creative reconstructions of Citeh streets, and the stadia, and comedy shops, these were all works of art, and should be cherished as such. They had a meaning and a significance that no plaggy Spitfire, no 00000 gauge Revell Warspite could ever come close to. Your models, as you call them, recaptured the stuff and substance of our youth, and kept our many mystical memories of Filbert Street vividly alive, long after the old place had become rubble. We salute you sir, as a remarkable artist, one that will live on, forevermore. We thang yow.

Down the years Micky, Dads and Grandads, Mums and Grandmothers will gaze at your Filbo model and say to kids "That's exactly what the old ground looked like. That's where xyz used to stand/sit. That's how old fashioned floodlights looked. How did he make that it's incredible?"
A 3D legacy for all Leicester City fans everywhere. Thank you.

With all of our heart.

Everything that channy said.
I know museums don't normally pay for exhibits but would hope that the moneybags down there find a respectable
way to reward your skill. If you just donate it remember to retain ownership in writing.
Speaking as a member of the club Museum committee put out of business by the admin...
