The difference between watching us and England

Is very simple for me. Last season in particular, probably because I watched nearly every game on my own in the bedroom, I was pretty nervous, going up to a complete bag of nerves depending on the opposition. If we lost I was pretty pissed off, win a biggie and I was like a kid in a sweet shop.
I watched the England match on Friday with my Scottish neighbour. He was up and down like a whores drawers kicking every ball. Was so nervous beforehand thinking they were going to get smacked. Me? I sat there like it was a friendly, my mind drifting at times to more interesting things than what was happening on the pitch. At the end I wasn’t even that bothered we’d drawn. Yes I want as an Englishman for us to do well but my ‘love’ for our national team isn’t there anymore.
And there ladies and gentlemen is the difference. I can’t be the only one who feels like this.

They have made me feel like that for the last few years mate ! Sad but true.

It's what happens when a team over hyped, over paid, and underperforming privileged brats let you down time after time. The older you get the more numb you become to it all.
In a deleted post I said there was always an excuse with England. They are building for the future, a future that never comes

Been like it for years .......it's the expectation that grinds you down
Knowing in your heart of hearts we will fuck it up as usual. That and the usual bullshit from the papers of how good the squad is

I lost interest before the last World Cup, the style of football lends you to be uninterested. I can’t relate to many of the players, and Kane and Sterling. Where do I begin @@@@

Looking back the last time I really was slightly bothered was the 2006 WC. Thought we should have gone the whole way until Rooney got sent off. Then when we didn't qualify for the 2008 Euros and got smashed by Germany in 2010 I’d completely given up.

All of the above corresponds with us doing well over the last 5-6 years & the degree to which we’ve all had the opportunity to watch pretty much all our matches for the last 15 months.

No LCFC players in the England squad also diminishes interest.

Still maintain that I’d love to see England to win a Euros or World Cup, in order to see the genuine joy that we saw when we won the PL & FA Cup, reflected nationally.

The England love affair for me started to wane after the 2006 World cup & was well & truly finished by the end if the 2016 Euros.
The Scotland fiasco was just a continuation of the 2016 Euros.
Now, I still want is to win but if we dont it's no great upset.

England are also not very good. On paper, potentially a decent side, but with an average and ultra cautious manager favouring certain players and unable to motivate or inspire, they are performing well below their collective strength.

Contrast that to LCFC, the management and players sharing an owners vision and belief they belong in the upper echelons of the Premier League, and Europe.

The one thing Southgate has perfected with this England team he takes the knee in a world class way give him credit it’s took loads of constant practice in front of the mirror to get this good !

I am more interested in watching the City players taking part in the Euros.
I gave up with England after the ’Golden Generation’ failed to deliver in 2006.
In the words of Public Enemy, ‘ don’t believe the hype ‘
Even if one day England actually win something again, it will never match City winning the Premier League.

No interest in England yet I am like a kid again, when city play. maybe because I do not feel any passion from the England squad to connect too.

This England set up has zero charisma. A grey Manager who suits the suits at the FA but is just different shades of dull and a Captain who trots out the same old soundbites without a creative thought in his head. We have good players but they are often overlooked or programmed to play to a very set formula.
Vardy spotted this "favouritism" a while back and made a good decision.

I had my say about the way the England set up routinely dampens its support but laying in to the 'over privileged' players is unfair.
Every international tournament takes place at the end of the season. And in England (and I don't know about other countries) the various competitions involve a heavy and exploititive work load on those involved right through all these.
And these are the very players we call into action literally days after they finish. Result? We always look tired.
Our playmaker, YT, has now racked up sixty matches. He is not English but is typical of those who are. This leaves any England manager in a difficult position. Pick from this group or play less talented players whose clubs have a lighter load.
Quite apart from the finance driven principles of extracting the most from players (with their cooperation) it seems to me the answer is for players to play less.
So let's take the League cup out of the Prem, reduce the Prem to 18 clubs and start the FA Cup for bigger clubs later for a start.
Scrap sweat shop football and the game will improve.

I think that’s the perfect description. The last 3 managers have had zero charisma. As you say suits the FA. Even when they went for Alladyce they couldn’t wait to get rid as soon as his corrupt side came to the fore.
It’s been the same since the days of not employing Clough.

They won't reduce the Premier League unless they are bullied by the BCC's.
The money barrens won't want their revenue diminishing.

Out of curiosity, who would fit the bill in terms of being charismatic AND a decent chance of success with the national team?

This will provoke some comment but Eddie Howe would be far better than Southgate. He had precious little to work with at Bournemouth and turned them around over a number of years. I think he knows that you don't just pick big names for the sake of it and would have a Plan B when needed.
I think the English FA needs a huge overhaul though and until this happens and things are streamlined frustration will continue to be the primary outcome.
Mike Bassett should not be discounted either :ROFLMAO: he liked to play two strikers.

Seems like we've all lost interest over time. Always want them to win, but very rarely sit down and watch an England game from start to finish, expecting a great performance and a win. Whereas with Leicester............

Totally 100% opposite of the cup final

LCFC- bag of nerves, excitement, couldn’t keep still, shouting, screaming, running around the room, crying, shaking etc....

England- watched bits of it, went and got a few beers, started to lose the will to live, how long left , check watch, when do Italy play next etc.....

Of course I'd love engerland to win it...but I've never been a fan of Southgate (average player..shite manager) his teams for me are too defensive...he played an out of form Kate when vardy was bang in form.

No wonder Kate was out of form she has to deal with her husband Prince WIlliam. Seriously though Vardy was probably best out of it because an international would have to play a completely different way to accommodate Vardy. I actually though during Euro 96 Southgate was our best defender.

i was in a local bar with a mate. we were both more excited about the half time food order at the taco truck next to it than the game.
The nacho fries were the highlight of the day.
The press foolishly make the mistake of thinking that English club team success means national team success, when most of the top teams (us included) have a small minority of English players.
The next day he texted me during the Germany v Portugal game and said "are these guys playing the same game as us?".
The fans aren't the brightest either.
When the squad was announced somebody moaned about how few Leicester players were in it, until it was pointed out to them that of the end of season starting 11, only Vardy (retired from international level), and Thomas were English.
The other thing that gets me is the close ups of fans who look like they've just lost a relative when a shot sails 5 yards over the bar. FFS.

We can be the most boring team in the world if we win it. Tournament football Is all about winning. Take Greece they were awful to watch but managed to win it.
