The day democracy died

Very selective Buzz, are you a tabloid journalist?

Adumass, the first post was about this chap but there is a far bigger issue here. This new law wasn’t intended just to shut this particular guy up, the actions of recent protests are well documented and are far more relevant to the new law. I repeat I haven’t heard this guy so I can’t comment in detail on what he does, do any of you have first hand experience?

I always try to put myself in the same position. If a bloke was standing outside my house complaining about my neighbours front door colour through a loud hailer for weeks on end I would be tempted to suggest he went somewhere else. If on the other hand he just held a poster up and didn’t make a noise I’d be less inclined to punch him

Everyone should have the right to protest in this country however do you think people have the right to disrupt other people‘s lives over a long period of time or damage their property no matter how valid the complaint

He hasn't damaged any property. He was portrayed as a violent protester by an MP, which of course those who don't bother to check anything themselves will be taken in by, so will think this draconian new law is justified. He's been protesting outside Parliament, it's obvious the clause about causing a nuisance has been added with him in mind. The Tories are so fragile, they can't bear to be questioned.

So yesterday the govt effectively banned protest, and immediately police move in to stop Brexit man protesting outside parliament. No different to China really in this respect, and we sleepwalk into it.
We've been like a banana republic for decades.

This government would have found the Brexit protestor enough of an excuse to push through these chab=nges to the rules. It's all about divide and conquer, see the misinformation they pump out about anyone who has the cheek to strike.
But only the Tories do divide and conquer, don't they? 😂😂😂

We’re not so far apart on this, when I spoke about damaging property I wasn’t referring to this guy I was talking about the myriad of other protests going on. This guy might not have damaged property but he has become a nuisance with the noise he makes, no doubt some people have found him intimidating. There is a line between a legitimate protests and being an obsessive pest, because it’s all a matter of opinion it has given those in power the excuse to bring in more legislation only time will tell if it gets abused.
For what it’s worth I think this guy has made it worse, if he’d just stood outside Parliament handing out leaflets and holding up placards most would have accepted his right to protest but accosting/abusing people (even MPs) over several months is too much. In the video this guy is complaining that the police are following him and that constitutes harassment and yet he doesn’t realise he’s doing the same thing. With a densely populated country like ours we all need to tolerate other peoples views but being a pain in the arse over long periods will inevitably lead to discord and we need to be careful that we don’t legitimise obsessive behaviour by calling it a protest.

Come on rino. The first post is all about the Brexit loon, and the new powers that the police and crime bill 2022 have brought in that limit any protest deemed "annoying".

And despite you having zero idea about any of it, you post about 10 times in the thread? Now I hate to sound like the "do your own research" brigade, but a basic understanding of the news would help...

Adumass, some on here would say The Daily Mail and the Evening Standard is MSM (mainstream media) which some say what is reported in these is all total bollocks. I‘m not stupid enough to believe everything that’s in the papers or on BBC, and I know they are selective on what they report, but I will continue to rely on The Metro and BBC for all my news.

Doing your own research nowadays to post or comment on something on here is nigh on impossible or just takes forever to trawl through countless websites. I don’t have the time or the inclination for any of that.

Just like China indeed

Just missing the tanks and thousands of deaths

There were loads of posts on Twitter about it but I knew that would be questioned if I reposted so a quick search brought up those results, which anyone could have done rather than asking. As it's MSM Rino is more likely to believe it, particularly as they're right wing press and Tory mouthpieces.

I haven't disputed any of what's been put on here though, I don't use twitter etc I never have. Is asking people to support what they say with facts (even if it is copied from MSM) so wrong?

I'm quite certain its not a law, like most things they try to convince you that are law. I'm sure its by consent, but they have ways of getting you to consent without you understanding it.

Its diabolical actually and as Wints says its like China.

Magna Carta and Common Law.

Yeah, good luck with that.

Magna Carta and Common Law.
Magna Carta wasn’t written to protect the common man. It was written to give Lords power over Royalty if needed and common law, as with any law, needs to be protected but unfortunately judges and law makers have disregarded common law for statutes.
Revolution is needed.

Perhaps if the government wasn't so shit, there wouldn't be so many reasons for people to protest?

Just sayin'...
You think kier will repeal these laws just like Blair repealed the anti union laws of Thatcher?
Good luck with that.
It’s about time folk realised it’s not a left right thing it’s an establishment thing.

There has never been a left/right thing in this country.
Other than for the purpose of pantomime.
Every pretend shift in power, including revolution; is merely shuffling among the Establishment.
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

Rumours flying around that the beer gate lot have been issued withFPN’s. Things might get comical.

No mention of Kier from me. Got me mixed up with someone else.

Johnson as a blusterer & bluffer is undeniable however.

That very much depends on what needs to change about your life...
Oddly enough, nothing at the moment. I just want to feel some pride in my country which I haven’t for the last 40 years. I want my country to be a good honest place to live. Not full of this bullshit.

Couldn't agree more.
With very few exceptions, they need to drag the whole lot out of Parliament, chuck 'em in the Thames and start again.
No lobbying allowed.
No second jobs.
No type of employment by any other businesses.
No lengthy "school holidays" for MPS. Make them work normal hours, with normal annual leave.
Get rid of political parties. No whips.
You stand in your constituency, to represent your constituents.
The running of the country is done from a pooling of the most talented MPs.
No allowing stories to be planted in the press, or other media. All associations with the media to be openly disclosed.
All questions asked in the Commons. to be answered in full - or you resign.
Every penny of tax taken to be justified and open to full scrutiny.
Wasted public money is a sackable offence.

Could go on...but all a pipedream.

Thing is SS, it’s only a pipe dream because we let it be. That’s the hard part to swallow. The establishment lay the bait and we all take it and fight each other.

l know that but it shows that there's power elsewhere. We the people have the real power, we just need to learn how to use it.

All courts only have any authority over us if we allow them too. Commit no harm, loss or injury, all other laws they use are not laws. l know you know this though.

l've stayed away from common law because of my obsessive ways, got enough going but its a fascinating subject which l feel will be used more and more.

Are you aware of Sovereign Pete ? l may have mentioned him on here before, not sure !

I got into the common law thing big time around 15 years ago. I follow one particular case where those in court arrested the presiding judge 😂😂 after numerous failed court cases one particular judge just said guilty, without any sort of defence being heard and the guy was taken down. It goes back you your first comments. It’s because we let them. People actually still believe the law means something. Something pure and honest without favour. The rest of us know it’s bullshit.
