The Budget

Obviously everything will increase because employers will be paying more out. That’ll hit everyone in their pocket because it’ll all be added onto the price we pay for stuff.

If they’re trying to find £40 billion why reduce that by a penny?it’s not like it’ll make any material difference to anyone.

This is a bit disappointing. I was expecting a thorough, insightful analysis of the budget from our new political correspondent, focusing on how it might affect the working class and disenfranchised.
Only The Reform Party can do that - 30p keeps referring to themselves as 'The Workers' Party', while NF looks on with tear-stained eyes.

The 22bn ' black hole ' doesn't exist.
It's a complete lie, the OBR have said they have found £9.5bn that could not be accounted for.

That's OK then...the Tories just pretended a £9.5bn "black hole" didn't exist...
The OBR does support the Chancellor's argument that the previous government's spending plans were unsustainable and that additional funding is needed to cover the shortfall, including and above the £9.5bn...

The lefties don't like criticism when it comes their way.
Easy dishing it out when you are in opposition.

You're being deliberately disingenuous.

The £9.5bn figure is an early number from the OBR which didn't include loads of additional spending commitments that they'd not been made aware of.

The £22bn figure is a number that the Treasury came to in July after adding everything together.

I believe the OBR have said that they didn't know the savings the previous government intended to implement so the black hole would probably be less than the figures quoted.

It seems that as usual we are being fed snippets to suit the politics of the feeder.

But it did include pay rises for some workers that the previous government weren't going to implement. The numbers are being manipulated to suit different arguments.

The net result will be sit down, shut up and pay up.

That's also being disingenuous.

The previous government deliberately blocked public sector pay deals before the election so they had to be done.

You can dispute the decisions made but the vast majority of those pay rises would have happened anyway.

Lots of financial illiteracy for the Progressives - particularly those that leech from the productive parts of the economy

The fact remains that Rachel From Accounts has made up a 'Black Hole', raised taxes in excess of this made up amount, and plans plans to borrow a lot more to 'invest (lol).

Tax & Spend - the same old failed strategy
