Tamara Press and her sister who I can’t remember, also Jarmila Kratochvilova, she/he used to train by running with a lorry tyre on a bit of rope tied round her waist .
 
When tennis player Richard Raskind had the chop & became Renee Richards, he/she played in the US open ladies singles.
This was in 1976 before it became fashionable.
