Team Yesterday.

DagenhamFox

Blue Roofer
Ward - At fault for the first goal he should have been further back. Once they took the lead there was no coming back.

Thomas - Rubbish, nowhere near good enough.

Amartey - He and Faes both let the runner go between them for the goal

Faes - As above we weren’t tight enough.

Castagne - Best of a poor defence.

Mendy - Got caught in no man’s land for their first goal.

Ndidi - Was decent enough yesterday in my opinion.

Barnes - At this level those two chances were crucial.

Tielemans - Again was decent enough, in the absence of Maddison I want to see him further up the pitch.

Albrighton - Again he did well enough yesterday but in general is too old now. We’ve needed a right winger since Mahrez left.

Vardy - Very isolated on his own.

Rodgers - How much has he regressed since those early days when we were pushing for a top 4 finish? He never learns. Some players were destroyed by Newcastle so he plays them again. Played the wrong formation in my opinion, too defensive then we still concede. We’re much too slow to get the ball forward, we’re looking to keep the ball than play a forward pass. No plan B. He was slow to react when we went behind, we needed to make some immediate substitutions to try to force a goal to go two up top. We still have no outlet up field when the opposition has a corner, even when we’re chasing the game. Never takes responsibility for his actions. We don’t work hard enough in matches and I’m not sure we’re fit enough to increase these levels.

I didn’t make it but that seems to be my lad’s and nephew’s take on it.

Ndidi kept giving the ball away, and silly fouls
Barnes enough said no tackling back as usual
Albrighton too static legs have gone

It was obvious in the first half, but Bodgers cant see it

I disagree about tielemans, he's never as effective further up the pitch...and expecting Mendy and ndidi to progress the ball from defence to the attacking midfielder just ain't gonna happen (as you acknowledge with "too slow" comment)

I was also slightly hopeful amartay may see red for the studs up tackle, forcing Rodgers to change something for three matches.

Cags on the left side, behind Thomas would have protected him and given more pace to the back line , it also would allow Nacho to come in and give support to Vardy ( at his age its unfair to ask him to play as a lone striker ) Set up the team not to lose first of all, then hit them on the break. We are the away team but we leave so much space for them to run into.

nacho? Who every time he comes on does the sum total of f-all? I read so many posts on here and Twitter saying he should be playing-why? What am I missing?every time he comes on I feel like we’ve given up, apart from a golden spell last season where who knows how,he scored a few( and it was as much of a surprise to him as it was to me judging by his reactions). there’s been a lot of strange decisions by Brendan but not playing nacho isn’t one of them in my opinion

Inheacho emphasises everything that is wrong with us.
He seems absolutely fine with the fact he gets very little game time. Never comes across as jacked off & frustrated with being on the bench. & when he does get on every single stupid little clumsy foul he gives away is followed by him being very apologetic to the opposing player, followed by him running back to see if he’s alright & helping him to his feet with another couple of apologies.
All very nice.

If you look at the team that started yesterday, on paper and from what we know of them from the past, you would think they could probably get a result. Rodgers is sending them out with whatever gameplan he does, which doesn't work but he does it time and time again. Barnes for one is NOT a shit player, neither is Thomas, but he's dragging these young, exciting players backwards and is ruining them as players. Barnes was knocking on the England door a while back but he's not getting around defenders or taking them on anymore - he's either shot of confidence or is being told to pass it sideways or backwards. A decent manager would have him firing on all cylinders again. KDH will go the same way at some point and have all that aggression and drive removed to fit 'the Rodgers way'. Terrible that he's been allowed to destroy a potentially great team.

Thomas had a very poor night in Newcastle and an absolute nightmare yesterday. He is a young lad struggling at the moment and Bodgers leaving him on the pitch yestdi for so long could potentially have ruined his career. I blame Bodgers far more than Thomas.
And takes him off for Brunt who was like a startled rabbit

I generally agree but it kills me that he still looks so young & inexperienced. You see young players come through for other teams and they look like they belong. Luke still looks like a kid in awe of those around him. He needs to understand he belongs.

Put it this way, he's 6 months younger than Wesley Fofana, started around only a dozen less top tier games, played around the same number of European games and yet still looks like a youth team player whilst Fofana looked first team from the first moment he stepped on the pitch. Is it him? Is it the culture at the club? I don't know but it isn't right.

I’ve said it before about Thomas, when he first came on the scene he was very confident for such an inexperienced lad & what was particularly impressive was how often he got forward & could whip in some delicious crosses. This has completely disappeared from his game & he doesn’t look even half the player he was when he turned up.
This is definitely down to coaching. For the good of himself I hope he goes out on loan soon so coaches worthy of the title can help & guide him so he can start turning it around & going in the right direction.
