I thought that Steffen was always the original target ?

That's right. I think it was touch and go because we favoured a possible loan of Trafford.
And perhaps it is not thought proper to speak to two players/agents at the same time.
ZS has said he was unaware of our interest except through the media anyway.
If he did come then it suggests to me that the 'spine' of the team is being addressed.

Well I've watched him in the under21's Euros and was less than impressed. Worse distribution than either Ward or Everson, and he looked totally bemused at times!
I know he's young, but he'd be bullied at set pieces in the Championship.
