Syria

Well I'm not saying they were good people but Saddam Hussain and Colonel Gaddafi's downfall didn't bring peace and basically opened up a bigger can of worms.
As you say. Without a dictator, Islamic countries end up under the control of the mullahs and their enforcers.

How will we cope when all these highly skilled goat herders go home to see if the family they ran away from are still alive?

Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn are worried

Thanks for your contribution 'Mr Selective'. Merely highlighting the characteristics of patriots - nothing deeper than that.
Just stating “practicalities” again, Mistry. They came because Assad was a danger to them, now he’s gone. They would only, probably, be replaced by those running from the mullahs. But yourself in their position, and say honestly, what would you do, in their situation? The vast majorityare men, who’s women folk are still there. Wouldnt you get back to take care of them? It could get interesting when the new intake of pro Assad refugees meet the present crop of anti’s, on the streets of our cities.

My understanding is that the govt has put an indefinite halt on anyone coming over from Syria.

I’m just mentioning what I heard on the news. If you’re interested enough in the detail, I’m sure you can find it.
Thanks. If that is the case, and the UK government has ruled that no Syrians are to be admitted to Britain, can we agree that those that will inevitably arrive on boats or in the back of a lorry, are “illegal” immigrants?

I think the Home Office is pausing decisions on asylum claims from Syrians, on the basis that the assessment of conditions in the country of origin are the key factor on assessing a claim, and hence those assessments may change as things become a bit clearer there. That is not quite the same as saying no Syrians are to be admitted to Britain, nor does it have a bearing on legality.

Current applications are paused, because the applicants were seeking asylum from the Assad regime.
That regime no longer exists.
The next question would be, can Syria currently be deemed a safe country?

There are a lot of places between there and here that are safe
And that's where the majority seem to settle. But there are so many factors driving the reasons.

Anyway, my original point stands - that so many appear willing to return to Syria to get back to their families & help rebuild their country, just strikes me as a different kind of patriot to the ones we see call themselves 'patriots' in some other countries.

Who would you recommend leaves in that instance if a choice had to be made?
Lets turn this round, Mistry. Lets say the buckin Belgians invade England. Nasty buggers, as evidenced in the Congo. Would you nob off with the family silver, to , say, France, where its nice and safe? Or would you pack your family off there, while you stay and fight?
